With their escape route blocked, and with enough of their bloodline spared for the Duoling Night Demon Hounds, the survivors could not help feeling that the other party had shown them considerable mercy—or perhaps that the other party simply had no interest in them at all. There was nothing here worthy of special attention.
The stars receded into the distance. The surviving Duoling Night Demon Hounds had no time to grieve. Once a fairly powerful tribe, they had lost three ancestral elders—some dead, some fled—and with the eruption of the Iceflame Hound-Bat Cavern, this place was no longer suitable for their survival.
The erupting iceflame demonic magma was enough to make them blanch, but that danger was only secondary. With no ancestral elder guarding the tribe, the tribes they had once oppressed would certainly retaliate with redoubled ferocity after learning of the chaos here.
If they moved even a little too slowly, they feared they would be unable to escape the encirclement and slaughter behind them.
In the blink of an eye, the once bustling territory of the Duoling Night Demon Hounds, which had lorded over an entire demonic domain, lay in ruins, with countless Demonic Beasts fleeing. The hostile forces that came for them were not particularly quick, however.
The main reason was that the Duoling Night Demon Hounds' gruesome condition had frightened those forces. They feared that arriving too early would offend the mysterious Buddhist expert within the stars.
Even a tribe as powerful as the Duoling Night Demon Hounds had been mostly annihilated in an instant, with only the insignificant underlings the other party had deemed unworthy of notice left alive. Any other force would have been wiped out even faster, without the slightest power to fight back.
