While confused, Mrs. Granger didn't ask further. It was clear Lin Yue's parents weren't good to her, so Mrs. Granger didn't want to bring them up again and make her sad.

After finishing the sandwich in her hand, Mrs. Granger went into the kitchen, took out a plastic bag, and said apologetically to Lin Yue.

"Sorry, I thought you and Hermione were resting last night, so her dad and I didn't come upstairs to find you. We're planning to take you both for a medical check-up today, so you can't have breakfast this morning."

As she packed Lin Yue's breakfast into the bag, she added, "I'll take these with us, and you can eat them after your check-up."

Lin Yue nodded expressionlessly and reached out to help Mrs. Granger pack the breakfast. "Okay, Auntie, you don't need to apologize. You and Uncle aren't wrong."

Mrs. Granger reached out and ruffled Lin Yue's hair. This child, the more she listened to her, the more her heart ached...

By the time Mr. Granger arrived at the dining table, only his portion of breakfast was left. The rest had been packed by Mrs. Granger and Lin Yue, ready to be eaten after the two children finished their medical check-up.

"Good morning, Uncle," Lin Yue said calmly to Mr. Granger.

"Good morning," Mr. Granger nodded with a smile. "We'll take you and Hermione for a check-up later."

Lin Yue's face remained unchanged, her eyes lifeless. "I know. Auntie just told me. Thank you for the trouble."

"It's no trouble at all," Mrs. Granger said, gently putting an arm around Lin Yue. "You don't need to be so polite with us."

After all, looking at little Hermione's demeanor, they would likely be family in the future.

Lin Yue nodded mechanically, feeling a slight warmth in her heart.

"Hmm? This sandwich tastes great. Did you research a new recipe?" Mr. Granger took a bite of the sandwich and looked at his wife in surprise. This sandwich was completely different from the ones she usually made.

Mrs. Granger looked down at Lin Yue and praised her with a smile, "Lin Yue made this. Isn't her skill amazing?"

"Very amazing," Mr. Granger affirmed with a nod.

Mrs. Granger smiled at him, then suddenly changed the subject. "But if I'm hearing you right, you think the sandwiches I made before weren't tasty?"

Mr. Granger's mouth, busy chewing the sandwich, paused noticeably. His rational mind screamed danger.

Thinking of a response at the fastest speed of his life, Mr. Granger waved his hands placatingly.

"How could that be? It's just that the taste is different when you two make it."

Mrs. Granger considered this and seemed to accept his explanation.

Mr. Granger let out a huge sigh of relief and continued eating his breakfast.

Lin Yue's eyes, like still water, lingered on the Grangers for a moment. She vaguely felt that even though she hadn't eaten anything, she was quite full now.

Without any doubt or deep thought, Lin Yue's attention was drawn to the sound of footsteps coming from the stairs.

She turned to see Hermione walking down the stairs in her pajamas and slippers, rubbing her eyes.

"Hermione, good morning," Lin Yue's voice, as calm as still water, sounded.

Hermione yawned and nodded, walking up to Lin Yue. "Why didn't you sleep in more? You're up so early."

"To make breakfast," Lin Yue replied as a matter of course.

"Make breakfast?" Hermione blinked in surprise and instinctively looked at the dining table, only to see the single portion of breakfast in front of her dad.

"Is that all?" A strong sense of regret washed over Hermione. If she had known sleeping in would mean missing Lin Yue's homemade breakfast, she wouldn't have slept. She would have set an alarm and gotten up early.

"There's more, but we have to get a medical check-up, so we can't eat now."

Lin Yue shook her head expressionlessly, explaining to Hermione in a concise manner.

"Medical check-up?" Hermione looked up at Mrs. Granger in confusion. Why a medical check-up all of a sudden?

Mrs. Granger affectionately stroked Hermione's head. "It's nothing, just to see if there are any problems with your and Lin Yue's bodies. Children, it's always better to be a little more careful."

Thinking of Lin Yue's incident in the Hogwarts Medical Wing where Madam Pomfrey kept her, Hermione nodded in agreement. Indeed, Lin Yue needed a thorough examination.

Compared to the magic she had only recently encountered for a year, a detailed examination at the hospital for Lin Yue would put her more at ease.

After Mr. Granger finished his breakfast, he drove Lin Yue, Hermione, and Mrs. Granger to the hospital.

Mr. Granger drove steadily. Lin Yue, sitting in the car, quietly recited her Potions class textbook.

Hermione, sitting next to her, shook her head and pulled Lin Yue into her arms, forcing her head to rest on her chest.

"You got up so early, and it's still a long way. You should sleep for a bit."

Lin Yue's recitation was interrupted. She blinked mechanically, feeling Hermione gently patting her back.

She slowly closed her eyes. Since it wasn't a time for sleep, Lin Yue couldn't fall asleep no matter what. Closing her eyes, in the darkness, she began to simulate the process of making potions in her mind.

Hermione looked down at Lin Yue in her arms. Her lips didn't move, and her eyes didn't flutter frequently. She assumed Lin Yue had fallen asleep and hugged her contentedly, turning to look out the car window.

The buildings outside the car window sped by. The four of them were lucky enough to encounter no traffic jams.

After nearly an hour's drive, they finally arrived at London's most reputable private hospital.

The reason for choosing a private hospital was twofold: firstly, the facilities in private hospitals were indeed superior to those in many public hospitals; secondly, it was due to the Grangers' speculation about Lin Yue's special circumstances.

If her current problems were indeed caused by such an operation, it would be better not to let the matter spread too widely.

Her parents were already deceased, so there was no one to hold accountable.

Spreading the news would only lead to more gossip for this already unfortunate child. Therefore, they chose a private hospital with relatively better privacy.

The car slowly pulled into a parking space. Hermione gently shook Lin Yue in her arms.

"Lin Yue, Lin Yue, we're here, wake up."

Lin Yue, who hadn't been asleep in the first place, immediately snapped out of her state of mentally simulating potion-making when she heard her full name, her eyes flying open.

She was immediately blinded by the sudden brightness, though Hermione interpreted it as her being groggy from just waking up.

Covering her mouth to stifle a giggle, Hermione looked at the "dazed" Lin Yue. Although her face remained expressionless, she had an inexplicable cuteness that her normal self lacked.

Taking Lin Yue's hand, Hermione opened her side of the car door. "Let's go."

"Okay." Lin Yue's eyes adjusted to the light, and she nodded blankly, following Hermione out of the car and walking step-by-step towards the hospital.

Upon entering the hospital, the Grangers went to handle the paperwork for the two girls' physical examinations, while Hermione led Lin Yue to a corner of the hospital lobby.

There were quite a lot of people in the hospital lobby at the moment, most of them walking with hurried steps, moving from one department to another, constantly undergoing examinations.

Lin Yue's eyes quickly scanned the entire hospital lobby, also glancing at the parts of the upper floors she could see.

She hadn't been to a hospital in a long time. She hadn't been to any hospital since that surgery. Lin Yue thought to herself, her heart unmoved.

Even for school physicals, her parents would give the teacher some money in advance, asking them to let her focus on her studies, and they would arrange the physical examination.

Then they would, in turn, give the money to the hospital responsible for the examinations. Her parents were quite willing to spend money in these areas.

About ten minutes later, the Grangers returned, each holding a stack of papers with various medical examination forms. Compared to Hermione's, Lin Yue's included an additional examination of the brain.

The Grangers, along with Lin Yue and Hermione, began their rounds at various departments. After completing all the other examination items, they finally took Lin Yue to the place for the brain examination.

Hermione looked at the examination room for brain scans and CT scans in front of her and asked Mrs. Granger doubtfully, "Mom, do physicals require this too?"

Mrs. Granger shook her head slightly, signaling Hermione to not speak too much. Then, she had Mr. Granger take Lin Yue inside for a brain CT scan and a detailed electroencephalogram.

She herself pulled Hermione to sit by the door and wait. Under Hermione's curious and questioning gaze, Mrs. Granger still didn't explain their suspicions about Lin Yue's current condition.

Because that surgery was too cruel, too evil. Out of protection for her own daughter, Mrs. Granger didn't want her to know about it yet.

Of course, if Lin Yue was indeed in that situation, then whether for future treatment or for daily life, she would tell Hermione the truth.

Because she was the closest person to Lin Yue and spent the most time with her, she was the most convenient person to take care of and help Lin Yue.

If Lin Yue wasn't in that situation and their suspicions were wrong, then Hermione wouldn't need to know about it either.

Seeing that her mother had no intention of explaining, Hermione slowly withdrew her gaze.

Forget it. If Mom wanted to say, she would have said it already. It's useless for me to look at her if she doesn't want to say it.

Hermione sighed and looked worriedly at the door of the room opposite them. Lin Yue, oh Lin Yue... please don't really have anything wrong.

After a long while, the door opened. Lin Yue walked out, still expressionless. Mr. Granger, walking behind her, looked dazed, as if he had just experienced something unbelievable.

"What's wrong?" Mrs. Granger's heart skipped a beat at her husband's expression. Could their guess be true?

Hermione also looked at Mr. Granger uneasily, waiting for him to speak.

Mr. Granger looked at Lin Yue with difficulty, then turned to Hermione. "Hermione, why don't you take Lin Yue to the lobby to wait for a bit?"

Hermione frowned, reluctant to leave. Regarding Lin Yue's condition, her heart screamed that she had to stay.

Lin Yue's brain automatically analyzed. She understood that Hermione didn't want to leave and wanted to stay and listen.

So, she nodded blankly at the Grangers. "I can go to the lobby by myself. You guys talk."

With that, she turned and walked quickly towards the lobby, softly reciting her Potions class textbook under her breath again.

As soon as Lin Yue left, Mrs. Granger and Hermione anxiously spoke at the same time, "What's wrong with Lin Yue?"

Mrs. Granger pursed her lips, looking nervously at her husband. "Could it be the same as our guess?"

"Not exactly," Mr. Granger frowned and shook his head.

"The emotional center in this child's brain is normal."

Hearing this conclusion, Mrs. Granger visibly relaxed. Hermione beside her also began to understand. So her parents wanted Lin Yue to have a brain examination because they thought Lin Yue's emotional center was problematic.

"But it's not entirely normal either," Mr. Granger completed his sentence.

"What?" Mrs. Granger's relieved breath was pulled back up. She glared fiercely at her husband. Can't you just say it all at once?

Hermione also looked at him speechlessly. "Dad, explain it all at once. What's wrong with Lin Yue?"

Mr. Granger looked troubled, trying to organize his words. "The emotional center in Lin Yue's brain is not damaged, but its activity is very low. In fact, the brainwaves within it are even weaker than those of an infant's emotional center."

"In other words, it's like... her emotional center has just grown, and she hasn't learned what emotions are yet, so she can't even react with emotion when she recognizes the outside world."

"Just grown?" Mrs. Granger frowned deeply. This situation was indeed strange. Logically, the emotional center should be fully developed at birth and then continuously perceive emotions as the infant grows.

How come with Lin Yue, it was like it had just grown, and she hadn't learned what emotions were.

Mrs. Granger felt a sense of confusion, but Mr. Granger wasn't finished.

"Also, the doctor noticed during the examination that Lin Yue's own brainwaves seem to be deliberately suppressing her emotional center."

"Deliberately suppressing the emotional center? Does that mean Lin Yue herself is suppressing herself, preventing herself from having emotions?" Hermione quickly interjected, her expression grim.

"Yes," Mr. Granger nodded. "Additionally... her sleep center is abnormally active, meaning she probably doesn't sleep well regularly."

"Similarly, her own brainwaves are constantly stimulating her sleep center, keeping it in a state of excitement."

"This can't be congenital!" Hermione gritted out, speaking each word distinctly. So many interconnected "coincidences." If you said it was congenital, it would be too much of a coincidence. Only a fool would believe it!

"I'm not sure..." Mr. Granger's face was equally grim, a mix of heartache and anger. "In this situation, I can't even begin to imagine what her parents did to her before."

"Two beasts! They don't deserve to have children, get lost! They should go to hell and be fried in Satan's oil pan for eternity!"

Hermione was so angry she swore on the spot. She had originally thought Lin Yue's parents were disgusting enough, having instilled so many bad habits in her and trained her into a learning machine.

Who would have thought they could be even more disgusting, actually tampering with Lin Yue's body, and the most complex, most dangerous part – the brain. How dare they!

The Granger family usually had excellent manners, but this time, faced with Hermione's outburst, neither Mr. nor Mrs. Granger made any move to stop her.

Mrs. Granger even let out a cold snort, her face like frost. "In the East, they should go to hell and endure the torments of the eighteen levels of hell!"
