Ch. 641The Mechanical Army
Key plot points and events
- Redflame Tigerfolk Dalu attacks Liang He and Konis. The two Fifth Order fighters coordinate skillfully but are badly outmatched by his Sixth Order strength; their fight wrecks the street, though civilians have already been evacuated.
- Dalu’s failure to defeat them enrages Raymond, prince of the Purgatory White Tiger Clan. Raymond uses his overwhelming baleful aura to assault both men’s minds. Konis nearly collapses, while Liang He’s unusually strong will lets him remain partly conscious.
- A vast, mysterious divine sense strikes Raymond and wounds him, interrupting the attack. Soon a formidable human force arrives: combat mechas and floating cannons control the sky while armored troops surround the Orcs.
- Qin Tian, the Garrison Commander of Ice Extreme Pass, arrives with the Legion Commander. The soldiers and machines show him absolute respect. Raymond demands to know whether Qin Tian injured him, but Qin Tian initially ignores him to speak with Konis and Liang He.
- After learning that Liang He has come to enlist, Qin Tian tells the brothers to step aside. He then turns his attention to Raymond, seeing the Orcs’ arrival as an opportunity to demonstrate human strength and secure advantage for the upcoming Nine-Star Martial Tournament.
Character developments
- Liang He proves that his lack of a Bloodline does not make him weak: his exceptional combat understanding and mental resilience help him stand against stronger opponents. The sight of Ice Extreme Pass’s army also stirs his interest in joining.
- Konis shows loyalty and courage by fighting beside his brother despite the odds. His pride in the Azure Dragon Legion and excitement at meeting Qin Tian are clear.
- Raymond moves from contemptuous confidence to shock and wariness after being injured by the unseen mental attack. His pride, however, makes Qin Tian’s apparent disregard especially humiliating.
- Qin Tian is presented as calm, powerful, and reassuring to his troops. His gentle handling of the brothers contrasts with his strategic resolve toward the Orcs.
Significant themes
- Teamwork against superior power: Liang He and Konis cannot match Dalu individually, but their coordination lets them resist.
- Strength beyond bloodline: Liang He’s skill and willpower challenge the assumption that Bloodline determines a fighter’s worth.
- Military power and unity: The mechas, cannons, and disciplined troops reveal the overwhelming organization and technology of Ice Extreme Pass.
- Pride, reputation, and politics: The Orcs’ concern for royal prestige and the coming tournament turns a street confrontation into a broader contest between factions.
Character interactions
- Liang He and Konis fight as trusted brothers and encourage one another under pressure.
- Dalu’s struggle embarrasses him before Raymond and the Orc retainers, while Raymond’s aura attack escalates the danger.
- Konis proudly explains the human forces to Liang He and introduces him to Qin Tian, who calms them and personally remembers their names.
- Qin Tian’s composed treatment of the brothers—and his deliberate refusal to answer Raymond—deepens the prince’s humiliation and sets up a confrontation.
