Before the energy reserves of the insectoids ran dry, unless they were killed in a single strike, these Bio-Warfare Bodies could keep getting back up and rejoining the fight again and again.
Even the weakest Zergling had this kind of combat ability, and the stronger insectoids were another matter entirely. Even Cockroach Bugs, which served as light armored units, could easily deflect nail-gun rounds with their sturdy bone plates and special armor angles when attacked by infantry electromagnetic weapons.
At most, the shots left scratches across their bone plates, which quickly healed under the influence of their biological genes.
A Thunder Beast charging across the battlefield came under concentrated fire from the fortress's heavy artillery. Shells loaded with fusion warheads shot along electromagnetic rails at hypersonic speeds, tearing through the air and slamming into the Titan Giant Beast, which stood over three hundred meters tall.
The alloy armor-piercing warheads, combined with their supersonic kinetic energy, barely managed to pierce the Thunder Beast's sturdy Biological Armor.
"Boom!"
Blazing little suns enveloped the Thunder Beast. A violent shock wave rapidly spread, blowing the insectoids nearby away like scraps of paper and ripping them apart, leaving nothing but burning wreckage.
A dozen seconds later, the aftershocks of the nuclear explosion faded, and Yuan Zhe sensed the Thunder Beast once more. The monster resembled an oversized rhinoceros, and several enormous wounds had opened in its thick hide. Blood poured out in great streams, quickly clogging the wounds like adhesive.
As its biological genes kicked in, the massive scars grew back at a speed visible to the naked eye. In his estimation, those terrifying-looking wounds would be completely healed in just a few minutes.
"What tough bugs!" Yuan Zhe marveled. "It can rival the Titan Battle Suits of a conventional Super Civilization!"
