Dense lances of light crisscrossed the battlefield, along with beams of primordial energy. With a wealth of skilled gunners and commanders, the Imperial Planetary Titan Fleet's artillery fire was precise and ferocious. In a single volley, it blew apart the shields of a Space Fortress. The following barrage of primordial-energy beams, like spears, pinned the sturdy fortress and tore through its armor.
After more than ten hours of continuous exchanges, the Imperial Planet Warships whose shields had been depleted retreated in quick succession. The number of Planet Ships directly facing the enemy fortress's fire dwindled rapidly, until their fierce attacks finally destroyed the fortress's Energy Core. A violent chain of explosions tore the entire sturdy bastion apart.
By then, however, the battered Planetary Titan Fleet had also lost the ability to continue its assault and had no choice but to return to the colony for repairs.
During the fighting, unlucky Planet Ships were occasionally caught by enemy fire and had their shields blown apart, their hulls destroyed. Fortunately, with their time-reversal ability restored, they could no longer continue fighting and would soon withdraw.
The attacking Imperial Fleet had emerged from the battle almost unscathed. The defending Tyranid Military, despite its defensive advantage, had lost tens of thousands of warships and a Solar Fortress.
That wasn't much, especially since Lorenkuz, a Fortress River System, could receive support from other military-industrial river systems in addition to its domestic production. Such losses were negligible.
