Lin Zhichen fell silent for a moment. The harsh environment of the Warhammer instance and the pressure from powerful external enemies meant that the Human World was constantly facing crises.
In wars fought on a cosmic scale, a single border skirmish could affect dozens or even hundreds of star systems. The number of Imperial soldiers who died in them was beyond counting.
And the final destination of these loyal warriors after death was not, as the Imperial Cult preached, the Throne. Quite the opposite: their souls entered the Warp. The lucky ones found release in a storm; the unlucky became food for daemons, or even toys to be captured and played with—
such things happened all the time.
That was because the Warp was, in essence, the Soul Sea of the Warhammer World. After it fused with the Fallen God Realm, things became even more dangerous. Once they died, most souls perished in the Material Realm, but a small number fell into this realm for various reasons, where they were quickly corrupted by Evil Power and transformed into twisted evil spirits.
Ever since the Fusion of Two Realms, Lin Zhichen had been using the connection of faith to gather the souls of humans who had perished across the Milky Way Galaxy. He did so to prevent the souls of these loyal warriors from falling to corruption.
"This place will become the final home of loyal spirits," Lin Zhichen replied.
At least in this universe, there was no such thing as reincarnation. The souls of most people soon perished after their bodies died.
The Imperium was a special case. There were too many Psionicists, and their souls were far stronger than those of ordinary people, allowing them to survive for longer after death.
Originally, this had not been a problem. But
