In other words, the Eldar's warships were similar to the Imperium's Main Fleet: they were all Pseudo Psionic Warships, could be mass-produced, and were on par with the Imperium in Psionic Technology. In some specialized fields, the Eldar's technology was even more advanced.

That was why just five pirate ships belonging to the Black Sprouts had forced over a hundred Imperial vessels—all civilian ships such as Engineering Ships and Transport Ships—to huddle together and face an enemy that appeared and vanished without warning.

The civilian fleet's resistance had exceeded the Black Sprouts' expectations. Even after their two escort Frigates had been reduced to one destroyed and one crippled, the remaining civilian ships, which had no combat capability at all, showed no intention of surrendering. They ignored all calls to yield and seemed determined to fight to the bitter end.

And so the first wave of attacks began. The civilian ships, completely incapable of resisting Psionics, could not withstand the corrupted Psionicists' assault. With a ripple in space, the entire Black Sprouts squad was teleported into the ships' interiors.

These corrupted Psionicists, clad in Psionic Armor, were astonishingly powerful. Thanks to their advanced Psionic Technology, they could even teleport individually multiple times over short distances. Their plasma shots, infused with Evil Power, could leave clear scars on even the sturdy alloys of a ship's hull.

Because of their past experience and habitual contempt for humanity, the first Black Sprouts strike team to board the ships was not very large. It numbered only a hundred or so.

By the usual measure of combat strength, these hundred or so Black Sprouts could even take on fewer than ten original Astartes. But this time, they had run headfirst into a brick wall.
