The illusory Deification List plundered and drew upon the power of the seventh-order Star Origin, transforming it into divine light that clashed with the source and laws of the sandstorm, each side wearing the other down.

Ghosts, Vassals, and flying ships battled the Scorpion-tailed People, Eagle-winged People, and other native races caught beneath the sandstorm.

At a glance, this battle seemed little different from the fighting at the oasis where the Dragon Emperor Cult had been stationed.

But the shift in who held the advantage made all the difference.

This desert oasis belonged to the native people of Scorpion Country. It was protected by a great many formations and restrictions. The Scorpion-tailed People and Eagle-winged People hid behind these defenses, fighting the ghosts, Vassals, and flying ships led by Wu Shanshan.

With every attack launched by the ghosts, Vassals, and flying ships, most of its force was blocked and expended by the formations and restrictions set up in the oasis. Very few attacks could actually break through and hurt the Scorpion-tailed People and Eagle-winged People.

That was why repeating the strategy used at the Dragon Emperor Cult's oasis—first killing large numbers of Scorpion-tailed People and Eagle-winged People to weaken the sandstorm they raised, then letting the Deification List's divine light overwhelm it and claim victory—was clearly impossible.

No one could say how much time and effort it would take to break through the formations and restrictions protecting the oasis and slaughter the natives inside. They might not even succeed.

After all, this star had reached the seventh order. The formations and restrictions in this oasis in Scorpion Country might not have reached the seventh order, but they were certainly at the peak of the sixth.
