Background / History

The Demon Suppression Division has ancient roots. Gu Yuntian identifies Ji Xuan, a leading cultivator of the ancient Qin era, as its founder; Ji Xuan established it as ghosts and monstrous beasts began to appear. The organization later declined into little more than a name before being reorganized approximately a century ago, when Time Slots began appearing again. 163 201

The modern Great Xia division was rebuilt to combat the threats emerging from Time Slots, including ghosts and strange beasts. Its branches are spread across regions, while its strongest personnel are concentrated at headquarters to support the country as a whole. 4 163

Despite being Great Xia's foremost cultivation force in overall strength, the Division suffers heavy frontline casualties and cannot cover every threat. It prioritizes Time Slots in urban areas, leaving rural and wilderness incidents harder to monitor; it also lacks the strength to openly confront every cultivation force without weakening Great Xia's wider defenses. 93 101

As Time Slots became more frequent, the government began seeking assistance from Hidden Sects and recruiting their cultivators into the Division. This was not an entirely new arrangement: the Division had long cooperated with Hidden Sects, though their powerful experts had rarely intervened in secular affairs before the crisis intensified. 130 151

Cultivator Registration and Recruitment

Wang Lin and Xu Fei first identify Lin Chen as a cultivator after testing his strength and investigating Hu Xiaoling's death. They register him and introduce him to the Cultivator Forum, where bounties connect cultivators with supernatural incidents. 4

The Division offers supernatural beings such as Xiao Rui two choices: become an auxiliary member and assist in combating strange creatures, or report periodically while remaining under supervision. 48 49

Tumen Village and Xuzhou

Li You assembles Qingzhou's elite forces to eradicate Old Demon Yankong and the Moro Cult: more than twenty Division cultivators, two sixth-order advisors, Lin Chen, and Li You himself. The operation attacks from four directions to prevent escapes and is timed to avoid civilian hostages. 92 94

The operation exposes the Division's political limitations. Shaolin's Master Yan Hong repeatedly challenges Li You's authority, while Li You argues that mercy toward Evil Cultivators endangers ordinary people. 93 94

Cloud Witch Mountain Incident

After Wuquan Village vanishes, the Yulin branch loses six investigators—including two fifth-order cultivators—without being able to trace them. Hu Bin requests Lin Chen's assistance because deploying the branch's sixth- and seventh-order personnel blindly could endanger the entire region. 121 122

Following the incident, Lin Chen explains that a Time Slot had expanded into a Barrier around the village. Hu Bin confirms that the Division's old records mention such phenomena, though the reports had previously been treated as rumor. 130

Great Zhou Demon Suppression Division

A Demon Suppression Division also operates under the Great Zhou Dynasty. It is directly led by the Great Zhou Emperor and is tasked with eliminating Demonic Evil and maintaining the dynasty's stability, analogous to the Great Xuan Dynasty's Mystic Armor Guard. 436

It was established at the beginning of Great Zhou by a Divine Intent Realm expert. Over countless years, it became renowned throughout the Azure Profound Continent for eradicating powerful cultivators and entire cultivation forces. 436

True Martial Demon Subduing Art

The True Martial Demon Subduing Art is the Great Zhou Division's core cultivation method. It was created by its Divine Intent Realm founder and has a tangible suppressive effect against Demonic Evil techniques. 221 436
