Four days later, Jiang Weiwei and Su Xiaorui led Shancheng Martial University's contestants onto a plane bound for Demon City. After a long three-hour flight, the twelve of them finally arrived. The students and teachers from Modu Martial University who were in charge of welcoming them were already waiting outside the airport. The moment they saw Jiang Weiwei and the others emerge, Modu's teachers greeted them warmly and hurriedly ushered Lin Hao and the rest onto a bus bound for Modu Martial University.
An hour later, they arrived at Modu Martial University. Looking at its imposing gates and grand buildings, Lin Hao clicked his tongue. Ah, a top martial university really was a top martial university. It had money to burn. A few upperclassmen from Modu Martial University led them to their lodgings, while Jiang Weiwei reminded them not to wander off and to rest up for tomorrow's competition.
"Idiot." Just as Lin Hao and the others had left the dormitory and were about to go eat, a voice suddenly called out to him. At the familiar sound, Lin Hao stopped in his tracks and turned around. The others following him saw him halt and looked in the same direction. A girl in a yellow dress stood behind Lin Hao, leading an adorable little girl in a princess dress. Another, slightly older girl was with them.
"Big Brother!" The little girl hurried over with short, quick steps and threw herself into Lin Hao's arms. He caught her just in time. The newcomers were none other than Fang Yao, Lin Xiaorou, and Lin Yueyue.
"Well, you brat, surprised to see us?" Lin Yueyue teased him.
"Hehe, Little Aunt, no. I just didn't think you'd come all the way to school to see me." Lin Hao scratched his head.
"This little rascal, Xiaorou, insisted on finding you. Xiao Yao and I couldn't talk her out of it, so we came to the school to try our luck." Lin Yueyue tried to take Xiaorou, but Xiaorou clung to Lin Hao's neck and wouldn't let go.
"Oh? Does Xiaorou miss her big brother that much?" Lin Hao kissed her chubby little cheek, making her giggle.
"Xiaorou misses Big Brother so much. And it's not just Xiaorou—Sister Yao misses you so much, too." Xiaorou whispered in Lin Hao's ear. But every single person there heard her loud and clear.
The contestants following Lin Hao stood frozen in place.
"Holy crap, look at that. Three beauties, two grown-ups and one little one, all came to see Great God Lin," Wang Meng whispered.
"Mengzi, I'm not blind. No wonder he's our Great God Lin." Lei Yunfan stared blankly, muttering under his breath.
"His strength is freakish, sure, but he's handsome, too, and he's got all these beauties around him. How's a person supposed to live?" Mo Zixuan looked utterly despondent.
But Jiang Weiwei and Su Xiaorui were the most astonished of all.
"Has someone stolen my Weiwei's man?" Su Xiaorui was instantly on guard. She'd heard everything. She hadn't thought much of the slightly older girl—she'd heard Lin Hao call her Little Aunt. But the girl in the yellow dress was every bit as beautiful as she and Jiang Weiwei were.
Jiang Weiwei stood with her lips slightly parted. So these were Lin Hao's family.
Holding Lin Xiaorou, Lin Hao looked at Fang Yao. "Sorry for the trouble this time. Xiaorou hasn't caused you any problems, has she?"
Fang Yao tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and looked at Lin Hao. "It was no trouble. Xiaorou's been very well-behaved."
Xiaorou, still in Lin Hao's arms, puffed out her cheeks. "Big Brother, can you and Sister Yao flirt without dragging me into it?" Hearing Lin Xiaorou's outrageous remark, Lin Hao gave a dry cough.
Su Xiaorui couldn't hold back any longer. If she didn't make an appearance, Weiwei's man would be stolen right out from under her, down to the last hair. "Hey, Lin Hao, are these your family? Aren't you going to introduce us?" Su Xiaorui spoke to Lin Hao, but kept her eyes fixed on Fang Yao.
Lin Hao finally came to his senses and addressed the group. "Right, let me introduce everyone. This is my Little Aunt, Lin Yueyue, and this is my little sister, Lin Xiaorou. This is my friend, Fang Yao."
The students immediately straightened up, their faces solemn. "Hello, Little Aunt! Hello, Xiaorou! Hello, sister-in-law!"
At the sound of so many people calling her sister-in-law, Fang Yao's face turned bright red. She softly replied, "Hello." Lin Yueyue gave Lin Hao a teasing look. "Oh, brat, looks like you're doing pretty well at school."
Su Xiaorui was dumbfounded when she heard her students call Fang Yao "sister-in-law." Her little plan had just handed her teammate straight to the enemy. She glared at the students beside her. Just wait till we get back. I'll deal with you lot.
Lin Hao then introduced Jiang Weiwei and Su Xiaorui to Fang Yao and the others. "This is Jiang Weiwei, the principal of Shancheng Martial University, and this is Su Xiaorui, the teacher leading us in this competition."
Fang Yao and Lin Yueyue were momentarily astonished to learn Jiang Weiwei was the principal. Was the principal of Shancheng Martial University really so young and beautiful? Jiang Weiwei greeted Lin Yueyue and Fang Yao with perfect courtesy.
"Big Brother, Principal Sister is really pretty, too." Xiaorou whispered to Lin Hao, though everyone there could hear her perfectly well. Realizing his little sister was about to speak without a filter again, Lin Hao quickly covered her mouth.
Jiang Weiwei, meanwhile, stayed perfectly composed and greeted Lin Xiaorou herself. "You're very cute, too, Xiaorou." Lin Yueyue seemed to have figured something out. Oh, this brat is quite the lady-killer. Looks like the principal and teacher at Shancheng Martial University have a special relationship with him. I should tell Mom about this when we get back. She might be getting another—no, two more—granddaughters-in-law.
"Xiao Hao, are you going to get something to eat? Why don't we go together?" Lin Yueyue offered.
Jiang Weiwei came to her senses and politely declined. "Lin Hao, go eat with your family. We'll pass. Just don't stay out too late. You have a competition tomorrow."
Lin Hao thought it over. "All right, then. Principal Jiang, I'll go with my family. See you tomorrow morning."
"Goodbye, Principal Sister!" Lin Xiaorou waved her adorable little hand at Jiang Weiwei. Jiang Weiwei waved back with a smile.
On the way to eat, Su Xiaorui whispered to Jiang Weiwei from the back of the group, "Good grief, do you have no sense of danger at all?" She couldn't keep it in anymore. Today's situation was bad. Really bad. How could her best friend be so unbothered, chatting and laughing with Lin Hao's family?
After hearing her out, Jiang Weiwei only smiled faintly. "So what if he has a girlfriend? I'm not his girlfriend." Su Xiaorui was stunned. Weiwei, were you serious? Even a blind person could see you were interested in Lin Hao. You might as well have I like Lin Hao written across your face.
"Wait, are you even my Weiwei? So what if he has a girlfriend? They're not married. Until they are, there's still a chance to compete." Su Xiaorui was as frantic as an ant on a hot pan.
"Ruirui, don't bring this up again." Jiang Weiwei looked seriously at her best friend. She understood that Su Xiaorui meant well, but first, she hadn't confessed her feelings to Lin Hao, and she wasn't his girlfriend. Second, the girl she'd met today, Fang Yao, was probably Lin Hao's actual girlfriend. She simply couldn't bring herself to stick her nose into their relationship.
If she searched her heart, did she have feelings for Lin Hao? Yes! It wasn't just because her father and her best friend had been singing his praises in her ear. Lin Hao had helped her a great deal, too. He'd provided her and Xiao Rui with cultivation resources, helped Shancheng Martial University reach the finals, and even saved her from a Fierce Beast's jaws. The hero-rescues-the-beauty trope was old-fashioned, but there was no denying it worked. The moment Lin Hao was swallowed by a Platinum rank fierce beast, she realized she'd fallen for him. But she couldn't bring herself to become the other woman and force her way into their relationship. She had her pride, too. And she would never ruin someone else's relationship.
