On the competition stage, the referee glanced again at Shancheng Martial University's roster, confirmed it, and was about to announce the start of the match. But Lin Hao cut him off. "Referee, I request to fight four at once!"
The referee froze. Not just him—everyone on the standby benches and the audience below was stunned for a moment.
"What did that kid just say? I didn't catch it."
"He said he wants to fight four."
"Who is this kid? That's way too arrogant."
On the judges' panel, Jiang Tianhai laughed heartily. "Good lad, got some guts." Fang Wei, however, looked utterly incredulous. "Has this kid lost his mind? What the hell did Yaoyao see in him?"
In the VIP section, "You little bastard, have you gone crazy?" Lin Yueyue couldn't hold it together anymore. She had no idea what was going on in Lin Hao's head. Fang Yao said nothing, just watched him with worried eyes. Lin Xiaorou didn't overthink it—her big brother said he'd fight four, so he must be amazing.
On Modu Martial University's standby bench, Mo Yu narrowed his eyes and glanced at the participant list. "Lin Hao, Shancheng Martial University team captain. E-class talent, Lightning elemental ability. Bronze High-rank strength." He tossed the info aside. "What garbage. Who gave him the confidence?"
The referee stared at Lin Hao with a strange look and asked cautiously, "Are you sure? The remaining four members of Modu Martial University include three Silver Grade martial artists and one Gold rank."
"I'm sure, referee." Lin Hao's expression stayed flat. The referee then turned his gaze to Modu Martial University's standby bench. The rules stated that if someone requested a one-versus-many match, the opposing team had to agree.
At that moment, Modu Martial University's Principal's face turned ashen. How dare someone provoke them so blatantly? Had this kid Lin Hao eaten a bear's heart and leopard's gall? "He's not qualified to challenge all of us," the Principal declared. Lin Hao gave him a cold look. "Trash. Just as I thought—a bunch of cowards who bully the weak and fear the strong."
"Bastard, what did you say?" The Modu Martial University team members erupted, hurling accusations at Lin Hao. He didn't bother arguing further and simply took his position on the stage.
"Wait!" The Principal spoke up again. "We agree to Shancheng Martial University's request." He glared at Lin Hao. "Hope you don't regret this."
Before the team members stepped up, the Principal pulled Mo Yu aside. "Once you're up there, tear him apart. As long as he doesn't die, make sure he wishes he had." Mo Yu nodded. A Bronze High-rank challenging three Silver Grades and one Gold rank—either the world had gone mad, or this Lin Hao was way too cocky. He followed his teammates onto the stage.
Both sides stood ready. Four opponents across from Lin Hao, alone. The referee was on high alert, keeping a close eye on Lin Hao to make sure he didn't get killed on the stage.
"Begin!" At the referee's call, the four Modu Martial University members drew their weapons. Mo Yu, as team captain, produced a weapon that gleamed in his hand—a fork-like implement. Lin Hao's eyes narrowed. That weapon looked just like the Phoenix Wings Gilded Rake from his past life. And as he guessed, it was indeed a rake-type weapon, called the Azure Fire Nether Halberd.
"Wang Meng has twenty-seven knife wounds. Xia Qiuling has three broken ribs and a hole through her body. Lei Yunfan has thirty-seven knife wounds. I'm going to collect every single one from you." Lin Hao's voice was calm but rang out like a bell, striking the ears of everyone present.
"Arrogant!"
The Modu Martial University team members, burning with rage, charged at Lin Hao. He vanished in a flash. Everyone froze—even the referee couldn't track how he disappeared. Then Lin Hao reappeared behind one of the Modu Martial University members, grabbed his shoulder with one hand, and vanished again, taking the teammate with him. The crowd was dumbfounded. Even Mo Yu stood rooted in place. "Where did he go?"
Just then, screams erupted from the sky above—the Modu Martial University member's cries, each one louder than the last. Everyone looked up and could only make out a tiny black dot in the sky.
"Holy crap, look—up there!" A shout from the audience drew everyone's eyes skyward.
"That's got to be three thousand meters up. How did he drag someone that high in an instant?" No one could figure it out. The screams lasted a full two minutes, sending chills down every spine in the arena.
As the sound faded, Lin Hao hovered in midair, holding a half-dead person by the scruff. Everyone stared. Behind him, the Wind Thunder Twin Wings flapped, and in his grip dangled the missing Modu Martial University member—now unconscious, limbs limp, as Lin Hao held him by the back of the neck.
Lin Hao descended, retracted his wings, and casually flung the man off the stage. Medical staff rushed over. Even the referee kept his eyes locked on the unconscious fighter.
Two minutes. What had Lin Hao done in those two minutes?
A huge question mark hung over everyone's mind. The arena fell into an eerie silence. Even Mo Yu and his teammates didn't press the attack. It was as if everyone was waiting for the medical report.
After a long moment, the medic gave Lin Hao a complicated look and said, "The student is unconscious. Internal organs are fine. It's just... just..." He couldn't finish. The Principal pressed, "Just what?" The medic's expression was strained. "His life isn't in danger, but every single bone in his body is shattered. He'll probably be bedridden for a year."
A sharp intake of breath rippled through the crowd. Even the air seemed to drop a few degrees.
"What did you say?" The Principal stared at the medic in disbelief, certain his ears were playing tricks on him.
On the stage, Mo Yu and the two remaining Modu Martial University members broke out in cold sweat.
On the judges' panel, "Tch, that Lin Hao kid is way out of line!" Jiang Tianhai rubbed his temples in frustration. Fang Wei was frozen in shock. Wasn't he an E-class talent with Lightning elemental ability? How did he pull that off? Did Yaoyao hide this from me? No—with her temper, if Lin Hao had exceptional talent, she'd have made me support him with everything. That means even my daughter doesn't know.
In the VIP section, Fang Yao's lips parted slightly. Lin Yueyue's eyes were wide. Only Lin Xiaorou clapped and cheered. "Big brother's amazing! Teach those bad guys a lesson!"
"Lin Hao, you ruthless bastard!" The Principal of Modu Martial University was seething with rage.
