Amid the blizzard, Boro, an Inner member of the Shell Organization, had established a secret church base to store away modified humans that should have been destroyed.

The one managing the base at the moment was one of Boro's subordinates, a man named Bagu.

Bagu was an Outer member of the Shell Organization. He was over sixty, short, and timid. Aside from some knowledge of biology, he had no particular talents.

As he drank in the base, he had no idea that the Shell Organization had just undergone a sudden upheaval.

Its supreme leader, Jigen, had died suddenly; his direct superior, Boro, had fallen in battle; its chief scientist, Amado, had defected; its mysterious masked enforcer, Kashin Koji, had also defected; the artificial human Delta had been captured while unconscious; and lackeys like Victor and Deepa had been killed...

In short, nearly all of the Shell Organization's Inner members had been wiped out.

The only one left was Code.

Of course, old Bagu knew nothing about any of this. All he had to do was happily guard this secret base.

Just then,

a black-and-red spatial portal suddenly opened inside the living room where Bagu was.

The next moment, Code stepped out of the portal, his expression cold.

"Code? Wh-what are you doing here?"

Old Bagu jumped in fright, looking uneasy.

"Where are the modified humans Boro hid instead of having them destroyed? Take me to them!"

Code got straight to the point, without wasting a single word.

"Huh? That wouldn't be right, would it? How do you know about them? And without Lord Boro's orders, I..."

Whoosh!

Code swept out one hand. One of his fingers stretched into a bladed claw, slicing off one of old Bagu's arms in an instant.
