History

Sasuke is initially defined by Uchiha pride, rivalry with Naruto, and his hatred for Itachi, whom he believes destroyed their clan. After being rescued and hospitalized, he accepts a genjutsu-induced vision as reality and becomes determined to seek overwhelming power from the Uchiha ancestors. The Sage of Six Paths gives him a Space-Time Wind Chime capable of contacting the past. 181 182

The wind chime connects Sasuke with Madara Uchiha, who begins instructing him in lost Uchiha techniques. Sasuke’s talent is especially pronounced in Lightning Style: he rapidly learns Chidori and produces multiple derivatives, but lacks equivalent guidance in the Uchiha clan’s Fire Style legacy. 185

His fixation on revenge repeatedly overrides tactical judgment. During the war around Iwagakure, he abandons the larger conflict to pursue Itachi, controls Kurotsuchi with genjutsu to force a route through an underground tunnel, and is subsequently ambushed and rendered unconscious. 276 277

Personality

Sasuke is intensely proud and competitive, particularly where Naruto is concerned. Naruto’s rapid growth makes Sasuke feel left behind, and he responds by pushing himself harder rather than conceding inferiority. 142 242 532

Revenge initially dominates his decisions. He treats the search for Itachi and Danzō as more important than battlefield conditions, ignores warnings from Kakashi, and repeatedly accepts dangerous confrontations alone. 276 277 528
