Tonight had indeed been a thoroughly baffling night.

Hermione admitted that she was extremely nervous. She had not yet decided whether to meet Dumbledore when, after class, she received word from Professor McGonagall that Dumbledore had asked to see her that evening.

Before that, she had confirmed with Professor McGonagall that a leave note had indeed been received. Yet the professor refused to tell her who had sent it, which left her restless with curiosity.

She was eager to learn Jon's identity, so after class, she hurried back to the common room, gathered her things, and headed to the Eighth Floor.

Since it was an invitation from the headmaster, there was naturally nothing to hinder her.

Thus, she made her way smoothly to the office and saw Dumbledore, as kind and approachable as ever.

"Professor, you wanted to see me?"

"Oh, Miss Granger, you arrived so early."

"Yes." Hermione took a deep breath, trying to calm herself and reveal only a suitable amount of panic. "I'm very nervous about that matter, so I hurried over to ask for your advice."

"It seems there is no need for us to say much more. You must be very curious about who the person looking for you is.

"I can tell you, but the condition remains the same. You must keep it secret."

Hermione nodded repeatedly.

"Of course I'll keep it secret."

If she wanted to know such things, it was impossible not to pay some price. Besides, even if they had not come to her, they would have found someone else. It was better to seize the opportunity firmly in her own hands.
