"It didn't fail. It succeeded."

Jon withdrew the power of the Magic Net, then carefully examined Laura, who lay on the conversion chair.

The surrounding researchers had already begun assessing Laura's physical strength. Such an evaluation would take some time, so Jon had no intention of waiting for their results.

He was an authority in this field himself.

"The modification succeeded. Inside your body, you can now independently absorb and store magical elements, but you still have no way to use them. Right now, you're no different from a Young Wizard who has only recently been born, except your power is stronger and your intelligence is greater."

"Why is that?"

"Because of the conditions."

Jon flipped through the creation manual Grindelwald had handed him and quickly pinpointed the cause.

"There's a fairly high chance of this happening. Your conditions were not an especially good match for the modification, because your soul strength was not very powerful. The previous subjects who underwent modification all possessed Wizarding Bloodlines. Although the bloodline inside their bodies was extremely thin, its presence still meant they had been infused with magical power from childhood. It was very little, but it was there. It just wasn't enough to let them cast any magic.

When it went unused, the growth of that power completely promoted the growth of their souls. Their soul strength had been constantly growing, no different from that of a normal wizard. Once the Magic Net interfered and they could draw upon the vast amount of magic within their bodies, they naturally became qualified wizards.

You used to be an ordinary person. You had no corresponding soul growth, so although there is power inside your body, you have no way to wield it. I have no solution for that. Professor, what do you think?"
