"What do you think might be in there?"

Luna asked eagerly, just as the walls began to turn again.

"Endless chatter, no doubt."

Hermione answered quietly, and Neville gave a nervous little laugh.

The walls gradually came to a stop, and Harry pushed open a nearby door in despair.

"This is it!"

The moment he saw the beautiful, diamond-like flickering light, he recognized the room at once.

Once his eyes had gradually adjusted to the dazzling brilliance, he could make out countless clock faces glimmering faintly.

They came in all sizes: towering grandfather clocks and travel clocks, some hanging between bookshelves, others standing on tables as long as the entire room.

Because of this, a rapid, unceasing ticking filled the whole room, like thousands upon thousands of tiny footsteps.

The diamond-bright, flickering light came from a towering bell-shaped crystal glass case at the far end of the room.

"This way!"

The moment Harry knew they were on the right path, his heart began pounding violently.

He led the way, following the narrow gaps between the tables toward the light, just as he had done in his dream.

The bell-shaped crystal glass case was as tall as Harry and stood on a table. It looked as though it was filled with a churning, glittering current of air.

"Oh, look!"

As they approached, Ginny pointed toward the center of the bell-shaped case.

In the flickering light floated a tiny egg, bright as a jewel. As it rose inside the glass case, it cracked open with a pop, and a hummingbird emerged, flying straight to the very top of the case. But as the current descended, the bird's feathers became soiled and wet again, until it fell to the very bottom of the case and was shut back inside the egg.
