Background / History

Mu Wanqing is Qin Hongmian's daughter and disciple. Raised under strict warnings that her exceptional beauty would invite danger in the martial world, she adopted a black veil and swore that the first man to see her face must either marry her or die by her sword. 204 206

Before meeting Lin Xuan, she was ambushed near the Kunlun Mountains by three foreign women in white robes marked with red flame motifs. Their vicious cold Internal Energy severely damaged her meridians, leaving her near death despite her own cultivation. 108 224

Luo Bing brought Lin Xuan to treat her. Mu Wanqing initially dismissed him as an unskilled “pretty boy” and refused his proposed method, but accepted after Luo Bing's persuasion and her own fear of death. Lin Xuan expelled most of the poison with Innate True Qi and ultimately resolved it using the Yin Yang Deficit Supplementation Technique. 108 110

After recovering, Mu Wanqing discovered that her veil had been removed during treatment and became distressed over whether Lin Xuan had seen her face. Lin later admitted that he had, placing her vow, gratitude toward her savior, and feelings for her master in direct conflict. 110 206

She returned to Qin Hongmian's bamboo residence and accidentally discovered Qin Hongmian's intimate relationship with Lin Xuan. Though shocked and angered, she defended her master, warning Lin Xuan that she would seek revenge if he ever mistreated Qin Hongmian. 204 206

When Zhong Ling was abducted during the attack on Myriad Tribulation Valley, Mu Wanqing immediately volunteered to join Lin Xuan's rescue effort. She pledged to follow his commands and demonstrated her resolve by swiftly defeating a group of bandits sent to test the valley's defenses. 209 212

During the Dali arc, Mu Wanqing traveled with Lin Xuan and Zhong Ling. Her guarded feelings gradually developed into affection, though she remained troubled by her vow and by Qin Hongmian's relationship with Lin. 224 225 252 263

After Lin Xuan again raised the matter of her vow, Mu Wanqing admitted that she could not bring herself to kill him and acknowledged her feelings for him. She ultimately accepted him as the first man to have seen her face and as her husband. 263 264
