The hecklers were generally less talented and less combat-savvy than the disciples of Lingxiao Pavilion. To make the trial more effective, Ling Tian had deliberately sent out fighters whose cultivation was lower than their opponents'. Even so, most of the Lingxiao Pavilion disciples had defeated their targets. They had obeyed orders, though, and hadn't killed them; instead, members of the Formation and Restrictions Hall had sealed them and taken them into custody.
Of course, nearly ten disciples had drawn or lost their matches, and Ling Tian had kept his promise and let their opponents leave. As for the disciples who had lost or drawn, they were "out of luck"—Ling Tian had punished them by sending them to the special training grounds for a thousand years of training.
When he saw that the last heckler had finished fighting, Ling Tian turned his gaze on the challengers and sneered. "There are still some of you left. Since you didn't seize your earlier chance, don't blame us for showing no mercy. Disciples of the Law Enforcement Hall, heed my order: kill them all!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, a dozen shadows emerged from the void. Each chose a target and launched an assassination. Spikes shot out like lightning, piercing the heads of several cultivators and killing them on the spot.
