Jiu Jie and Meng Du were both exceptionally clever strategists. They could easily figure out why Chi Xue wanted to work with them, and knew he was hoping to see North Profound and the Immortal Realm both suffer, then fish in troubled waters.
Of course, even though they had worked that out, they had no intention of distancing themselves from Chi Xue. Instead, they planned to deal with him and glean whatever useful information they could from him. That would make it easier to face the Immortal Realm.
"Exactly. We'll have some fun with North Profound, and with Chi Xue too." Meng Du nodded, his curiosity faintly stirred. "I wonder how much Ling Tian and Chi Xue have grown over the years, and how they compare with the people from our realm. We may be weaker in terms of strength, but I refuse to believe we can't beat them with strategy. This isn't a one-on-one fight."
Jiu Jie said nothing, merely nodding. Sparks glinted in his eyes, and his fighting spirit blazed.
"Big brother, we've worked hard at our cultivation all these years, and we've mastered quite a few powerful secret arts. We might not be any weaker than Ling Tian and Chi Xue," Jiu Nan said, sounding unconvinced.
Jiu Jie frowned slightly and looked at Jiu Nan. "If we don't run into Ling Tian, so much the better. But if we do, retreat immediately. We can figure out how strong he is, then go back and fight him. Remember, retreat first!"
Though Jiu Nan was rather unhappy about it, he had great faith in Jiu Jie. He nodded and committed those words to memory.
"Heh. You're supposed to be the cleverest strategists in the Immortal Realm, yet you're saying things that bolster the enemy's morale and dampen our own."
