In his mind, if Ling Tian really got struck down, then his younger brother's murder would be avenged. More importantly, with the bona fide "seed" dead, he and Chi Xue, as the candidates, could take his place. That meant they would receive special cultivation, greatly improve their strength, and perhaps even encounter better opportunities. All of it would give them a better chance of resisting the Ultimate Lightning Tribulation in the future, or even breaking free of the Lord of the Universe's restraints.

Mastering them could boost Chi Xue's and my strength to the greatest extent, and the Lord of the Universe might teach us these formations to cultivate us."
