By now, Chi Xue and the others were certain that the Lord of the Universe would deliberately go easy on Ling Tian while he faced his tribulation. Po Tian thought that would also make it easier for them to succeed in their own tribulations and break free of the Lord of the Universe's control. At the thought, they were all thrilled. Shi Ying, however, had a different opinion. She bluntly pointed out that the Lord of the Universe might go easy on Ling Tian without doing the same for them.
"Why not? We're joining forces with Ling Tian to face the tribulation. If the power of the lightning tribulation he faces is greatly reduced, doesn't that mean the pressure on us will be lighter too?" Shi Lin asked, puzzled. But as he spoke, his expression shifted slightly. Clearly, he had realized something.
"We aren't Ling Tian. The Lord of the Universe may go easy on him, but that doesn't mean he'll do the same for us. Especially since, from what we can tell, Chi Xue and Po Tian may not be candidates the Lord of the Universe has chosen as successors." Shi Ying explained, then glanced at the two men. "We can see as much from the fact that the Lord of the Universe hasn't shown them any favor all these years. In that case, the Lord of the Universe might not hesitate to kill them."
Without waiting for anyone to speak, she continued, "If the Lord of the Universe is willing to kill Chi Xue and the others, he'll have even fewer qualms about killing us."
"That's right. The Lord of the Universe may not go easy on us." Chi Xue's voice was grave. He gave a bitter smile. "He may even deliberately go easy on Ling Tian, giving
