Instead, he gave them a choice between two options: they could either designate one cultivator to leave the God Realm with them, or take several cultivators with them.
When they heard the second option, many cultivators said they could choose it outright. After all, they all wanted to escape the Lord of the Universe's control, and taking one more cultivator with them was far better than taking only one.
For a time, everyone urged Chi Xue and the others to choose the option that let them take more people. Even Po Di and the others seemed inclined that way. In their minds, the more cultivators left the God Realm with Chi Xue, Po Tian, and the others, the more helpers they would have—and the better their chances of completing the Lord of the Universe's task. They would also have a better chance of finishing it before Ling Tian and Xiao Shi. Po Di and the others hadn't forgotten that if Ling Tian and the others got there first, these hostages might well perish. So they wanted Chi Xue and the others to take as many helpers as possible.
