After Ling Tian made his breakthrough, Shen Wei and the others realized that they had no chance of capturing him and seizing the World-Ending Thunder Dragon on their own. Their master was still in seclusion and wouldn't emerge anytime soon, and they didn't want to hand the credit over to the sect's other branches for nothing. So naturally, their best option was to keep waiting for their master to come out. In their minds, their master had already reached the Twenty-eighth Heaven of Near-Saint; once he found Ling Tian and the others, he would surely catch up to them. Capturing them after that would be a piece of cake.
Of course, Shen Wei and the others weren't going to sit around doing nothing. While they waited, they would refine the Origin Power left behind by the fallen Saint, which would rapidly increase their strength. They even thought that, if they broke through, they might have a good chance of capturing Ling Tian and the others themselves. Leaving Shen Wei and the others to settle down and cultivate, Ling Tian quickly realized through some of the formation marks and restrictions he had left behind that they had stopped moving—and had remained stationary for quite some time. He concluded that they had stopped pursuing his group.
