Ling Tian had wanted to take the Eastern Emperor Bell as his Natal Dan Artifact for two reasons. The first was naturally to control it and have it create a more effective space, giving him, Chi Xue, and the others more time to cultivate. With more time, they could raise their cultivation as much as possible and perhaps become Sages, or at least approach the Sage level.
The second reason was to use the Eastern Emperor Bell to contend with the Lord of the Universe. A Sage-level Natal Dan Artifact could play a huge role in a battle against the Lord of the Universe, especially since the Eastern Emperor Bell could create an independent Small World to resist the Lord of the Universe's cosmic suppression.
But since the Eastern Emperor Bell had already agreed to help Ling Tian and the others create a much more powerful space and to help him fight the Lord of the Universe in the future, Ling Tian no longer had an absolute need to take it as his Natal Dan Artifact. Ling Tian already had plenty of Natal Dan Artifacts, and after defeating the Lord of the Universe and reclaiming the World-Ending Thunder Dragon's Origin Power, he would become a Sage and be able to nurture Poxiong and the others into Sage-level artifacts. By then, he would have even less reason to claim the Eastern Emperor Bell as his Natal Dan Artifact.
That was why Ling Tian was overjoyed when he heard the Eastern Emperor Bell readily agree to his request. He no longer had to worry that he would be unable to rely on the Eastern Emperor Bell and would ultimately lose the battle against the Lord of the Universe.
