Po Qiong estimated that Ling Tian's current cultivation level was nowhere near enough to condense a Spiral Arrow. Even if he managed to form one, it would consume nearly all of his mental power, leaving him no chance of using it in battle with the time he had. Ling Tian could only settle for the next best thing: carving threads into a Spiritual Energy Arrow and beginning to practice the Threaded Arrow.
He nocked an arrow and drew his bow, then released the string. The Spiritual Energy Arrow shot forth. To Ling Tian's astonishment, the Threaded Arrow let out an incredibly sharp whistle, far more piercing than even a Spinning Arrow that had been twisted through many rotations. Its force was terrifying.
But soon Ling Tian's brow furrowed. The Spiritual Energy Arrow shot along an extremely erratic path, like a flood dragon gone berserk. The Threaded Arrow tore through an ancient pine with irresistible force, leaving an arrow hole as large as a head. The threaded marks inside the hole were quite distinct, with faint signs of friction and scorching. Wood chips flew everywhere, raining down all around.
Before long, a crack rang out, and the towering ancient pine crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
That wasn't all. The Threaded Arrow kept flying. After piercing the pine, its trajectory grew even stranger, as if it had slipped further out of control, until it slammed into a massive boulder. The boulder, several zhang across, shattered with a crash. Rocks shot through the air, dust billowed, and faint traces of energy surged from the wreckage.
"Uh, the power is impressive, but..." Ling Tian's brows knitted into a deep furrow. Looking at the fallen pine and shattered boulder, he murmured, "This Spiritual Energy Arrow is completely beyond my control.
