Background

Qing Lin was a half-breed child in Stone Desert City who endured hunger, cold, ostracism, and bullying. Xiao Ding and Xiao Li of the Desert Iron Mercenary Group gave her work and shelter after seeing her mistreated. Xuan Jin sought her out specifically because of her Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils, rescued her from harassment, and took her away with the brothers' blessing 44.

Initially deeply conditioned to see herself as inferior, Qing Lin attempted to serve Xuan Jin rather than eat beside him and was prone to kneeling. He provided her with clothes, nourishing food, medicine, and cultivation instruction, explicitly forbidding her from kneeling again 45. Her health and confidence improved visibly during their time in Stone Desert City.

She remained devoted to Xuan Jin as she developed from his timid attendant into an independent cultivator. Wanting to stand beside him rather than merely serve him, she left the Pill Tower to train in the Beast Domain, where she pursued the Ancient Heavenly Snake's remains and power 271 272.

She repeatedly trains beyond her limits because she refuses to become a burden, and she becomes ruthless when threatened or when commanding her serpent slaves 230 272 273. She values Xuan Jin's safety and advancement above her own benefit, even offering him the Ancient Heavenly Snake's essence blood before accepting that it was more valuable to her cultivation 275 276.
