Background and History

Guangchengzi describes the Heavenly Demons as beings that emerged from rifts across the universe. They fed on cultivators, called themselves gods, and caused wars and mass slaughter. The Heavenly Emperor used himself to mend the rifts, but the demons continued to descend periodically; repairing the breaches became part of the recurring Great Tribulation 280.

In the present era, the Ji Clan and Eternal Clan made contact with the demons and sought to bring them into the Xuanhuang Universe. The demons' power could strengthen their allies, while the world's barrier and ancient restrictions obstructed their entry 428 429 439. They later gained a foothold in the Thunderclap Star Domain with the help of the Heavenly Clan 471 480.

Appearance

The demons encountered by Lu Yuan look human once the black mist surrounding them is stripped away. Their origin aura, rather than their visible features, distinguishes them from humans 477 559 560.

Story Role and Major Arcs

• Thunderclap Star Domain — a demon used Heavenly Clan members to gather sacrifices across inhabited planets. Lu Yuan tracked it down and killed it; he later defeated three more demons during the fighting on Heavenly Star 472 473 478 484.
• Heavenly Star campaign — the demons sought control of the planet and, through it, the wider star domain. After Jiang Taiyu's counterattack, they abruptly retreated from Heavenly Star 480 489 512.
• Earth descent — thirteen demons emerged from a black altar at Longhu Mountain. Lu Yuan killed one immediately and then annihilated the remaining twelve, ending that first invasion; the altar remained 559 560 563.
