Everyone had come to attend a grand and solemn wedding.
Inside the magnificent, ancient cathedral hall, the guests wore suits or formal gowns, filling nearly every seat. Some even stood in the open spaces along both sides. Magneto Erik had rarely dressed so formally, and he was officiating the wedding.
Since the groom had no family present, Professor X Charles stood in for them.
Beneath the cathedral's lavish, gentle lights and amid the pleasant classical music of the orchestra,
Caesar, his hair styled like an adult's and dressed in a handsome suit, held the hand of Jean, who wore a wedding gown as if she had stepped out of a fairy tale. Together, they slowly walked down the red carpet from the entrance toward the platform where they would exchange their vows.
The guests below watched the perfectly matched pair, their expressions ranging from complicated to blessing.
Naturally, those with the most complicated feelings were the male teachers and students of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. The goddess they had pursued for so many years was being married off just like that. Offering their heartfelt blessings was truly a little difficult.
"Mr. Scott, aren't you going to try and crash the wedding? This is your last chance." Some mutant male students attending the wedding secretly encouraged Cyclops Scott, who stood in the last row of the main hall.
At Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Scott had pursued the goddess Jean more fervently than anyone else. He had chased after her from their
