Tang Wulin had loved following Yun Mu around since he was little, never leaving his side and always clinging to him, as if something about Yun Mu constantly drew him in.
Lang Yue would always chuckle softly at this and say, "See? I made the right decision back then, didn't I? Yun Mu is just like an older brother."
Yun Mu actually liked Tang Wulin quite a lot as a younger brother, even though he hated Tang San.
Still, he did not dislike Tang Wulin. The first physical book he had ever read was Legend of the Dragon King.
Back then, he and his classmates had competed to read Legend of the Dragon King.
Though Yun Mu appeared indifferent at the moment, he was actually immensely curious about what his Martial Soul would be. He knew it would not be too bad, though—children of the Dual God Kings could not possibly turn out poorly.
Tang Wulin suddenly pounced on him, interrupting all of Yun Mu's thoughts. "Brother, Dad wants you to go out. It's time to prepare for our Martial Soul Awakening."
Yun Mu moved Tang Wulin off himself and said helplessly, "Wulin, let me get up." But he had not expected Tang Wulin to be so energetic. Tang Wulin grabbed him and ran straight out.
The street outside Red Mountain Academy was already packed with people. Parents and children waiting for their Martial Soul Awakening were everywhere.
Tang Ziran arrived late with Yun Mu and Tang Wulin, and many people were already lined up ahead of them.
After registering the two children, Tang Ziran took them aside to wait.
Yun Mu was not anxious at all, as though he did not care about Martial Soul Awakening in the slightest. Tang Wulin, however, was completely different. He was so nervous that he tightly clenched Yun Mu's clothes.
Yun Mu felt like Tang Wulin was about to tear a hole in them.
Tang Ziran noticed Tang Wulin's nervousness and smiled. "Wulin, stop tugging on your brother's clothes."
"Dad, I'm nervous. Will I be able to awaken Soul Power?"
"You definitely will." Yun Mu smiled reassuringly and tightly held one of Tang Wulin's hands.
Hearing this, Tang Ziran assumed his eldest son was comforting Tang Wulin. He smiled and said to Tang Wulin, "Whether you awaken Soul Power or not, you are both my most beloved children."
"Tang Yunmu, Tang Wulin, get ready." A teacher from Red Mountain Academy called out from the school entrance.
Rubbing his hands together, Tang Ziran quickly led Tang Yunmu and Tang Wulin toward the entrance of Red Mountain Academy, calling as he went, "We're here! We're here!"
Tang Wulin and Yun Mu walked up to the teacher together. The teacher looked somewhat impatient, probably because there were too many people undergoing their awakening today.
Of course, there was another possibility: ordinary people simply could not awaken any real geniuses.
Tang Wulin was extremely excited as he walked along the path within Red Mountain Academy, making the calm Yun Mu beside him seem especially unusual. Yun Mu's expression remained indifferent the entire time.
They finally arrived before a white building. Tang Ziran stopped there and looked expectantly at his two sons.
Yun Mu slowly walked inside and looked at the awakening chamber before him, its walls carved with all manner of strange Martial Souls.
He also saw a Spirit Master who appeared quite gentle. This Spirit Master seems pretty decent.
The Spirit Master said, "Don't be afraid, child. I'll awaken your Martial Soul now. Focus and calm your mind."
White light instantly flared from the Spirit Master's hand, spreading throughout the entire room before flowing back beneath Yun Mu's feet.
The white radiance slowly surged from beneath his feet into his body. He felt another force within him gradually rise up, responding to this power.
Yet before that force could emerge, a dense surge of Life Force completely covered it.
He felt terrifying powers emerge from both his left and right hands—powers that were deeply familiar to him.
His eyes reddened slightly as he murmured in his heart, Dad... Mom...
That ultimate life suddenly blossomed before the Spirit Master. His eyes lit up, but when he saw that it was a sword, disbelief filled his face.
An Ultimate Life Martial Soul? Yet the vessel of life was a sword?
Did that make any sense?
And the sword was clearly unusual. It was emerald-green, like a crystal in its entirety. It did not appear to possess the slightest bit of offensive power and looked more like an ornament.
However, the Spirit Master quickly recovered and handed Yun Mu the crystal ball used to test Soul Power.
Yun Mu gently touched the crystal ball. It swiftly lit up, and the crystal ball filled completely.
Yun Mu quickly released it. Fortunately, he had cultivated a technique and gained a certain degree of control over his Soul Power. Otherwise, the fact that his Innate Soul Power was definitely higher than level ten could not be exposed. This was no longer merely a question of whether he was talented.
A trace of regret appeared in the Spirit Master's eyes. He had not expected this child to possess Innate Full Soul Power, yet have such a Martial Soul.
The Spirit Master asked, "Would you be willing to join the Spirit Pagoda?"
Yun Mu thought for a moment, then shook his head. If Tang Ziran and Lang Yue were still short on money, he really would have joined.
But now that they had returned to work as Mecha Designers, they were not short on money at all. In fact, they were quite well-off.
Besides, he knew that it was best for them not to work in anything related to pharmaceuticals now. Tong Yu would not come looking for him, and even if he came looking for Tang Ziran, it would only be to repay his debt.
Moreover, the Spirit Pagoda had practically become the Qian Gu Family's property. If a level-twenty innate genius like him went there, he would either be seeking death or volunteering to be experimented on.
The Spirit Master sighed, took out a notebook, and made a checkmark beside something. He did not ask again. After all, this Martial Soul looked somewhat strange. It would have been better if this ultimate life attribute had appeared on a flower, or even Blue Silver Grass.
The fundamental reason was that the Spirit Pagoda did not lack geniuses themselves, and most people only joined the Spirit Pagoda for work while attending school or after graduation.
Yun Mu bowed to the Spirit Master and said, "Thank you."
Yun Mu left the awakening chamber and let out a breath of relief. He sensed that the aura in his left hand was destruction.
No way. Please don't let it be the Tree of Destruction. Please, no. It has to be the Scepter of Destruction.
Tang Wulin looked at Yun Mu curiously and asked, "Brother, how did it go?"
Yun Mu nodded. "Life attribute. My Martial Soul is a sword. Innate Full Soul Power."
Tang Wulin nodded, then hurried into the awakening chamber.
But not long afterward, he walked out looking somewhat dejected.
Though he was somewhat downcast, he did not seem as heartbroken as he had been in the original story.
Yun Mu felt a hint of confusion and asked, "Wulin, what's wrong?"
Tang Wulin said sorrowfully, "Brother, my Martial Soul is the Blue Silver King, and I have level-six Innate Soul Power. But I want to become an Attack-type Soul Master. I don't want to be control or support."
"Why?" Yun Mu asked curiously. Tang Wulin had always admired Huo Yuhao and had wanted to become a control-type Soul Master, so why had he suddenly changed his mind? Still, no wonder he was not as sad as in the original story. So his Innate Soul Power was level six.
"Brother's Martial Soul is the Sword of Life. You might become a support-type Soul Master in the future. I want to join the Assault System. I want to protect you, Brother." Tang Wulin spoke with great pride, but the next moment, he lowered his head again and silently released his Martial Soul.
Looking sadly at the Blue Silver King, he said, "What a pity it's Blue Silver Grass."
Yun Mu rubbed Tang Wulin's head, warmth filling his heart.
Tang Wulin, Tang Wulin... You have to stay this way forever. Then we'll always be the best brothers.
