Shrek operates under the inherited maxim, “It’s Mediocre Not to Cause Trouble.” Its students are portrayed as escalating conflicts when others endure their provocations, as seen during the Blue Sunshine Academy incident. 1 2

The academy’s elite students are groomed through high-level Soul Ring hunts. A group of twelve core disciples—also designated reserve elders of Sea God’s Pavilion—were assembled for Soul Rings ranging from sixty thousand to at least ninety thousand years. Mu En assigned the level-98 Xuan Zi (Profound Elder), Shrek’s strongest openly acknowledged combatant, as their sole escort. 25 26

That expedition became a disaster when Xuan Zi slept during the journey and lost track of the group. Most of the twelve elite disciples died; Zhang Lexuan and Han Ruoruo survived only because Lin Feng rescued them. Xuan Zi accepted responsibility and sought to leave Sea God’s Pavilion, but Mu En and Yan Shaozhe persuaded him to remain because Shrek could not afford to lose his combat power. 30 32 33 34

Xuan Zi later led another Shrek team toward the All-Continent High-Level Soul Master Tournament. A Death Messenger ambush devastated the group, killing several Soul Kings and severely injuring Ling Luochen, Dai Yueheng, and Ma Xiaotao. Xuan Zi again attempted to resign from Sea God’s Pavilion, but surviving students ultimately knelt to persuade him to stay. 71 72 73 78

In the later era, Shrek retaliated after Lin Feng killed student Yu Yuanheng and a Shrek teacher. The academy publicly deployed Crimson Dragon Douluo Zhuo Shi, then escalated its response after Zhuo Shi’s death by sending former Vice Pavilion Master Long Yeyue. Loss of the twelve core disciples

Xuan Zi’s failed Spirit Hunt caused the deaths of most of Shrek’s twelve elite core disciples. The loss created a severe generational gap among Shrek’s younger talent and caused Zhang Lexuan and Han Ruoruo to break from the academy. 33 34

Tournament-team ambush

The Death Messenger’s ambush destroyed much of Shrek’s tournament contingent, including multiple Soul Kings. The surviving students’ silence toward Xuan Zi convinced him that they would never forgive his failure. 72

Retaliation against Lin Feng

Shrek framed Lin Feng’s killing of Yu Yuanheng and another academy member as a Titled Douluo bullying weaker students, then used a Federation television broadcast to publicize Zhuo Shi’s retaliation. 87 89 90

Zhuo Shi was killed on the live broadcast. Long Yeyue then mobilized Shrek’s connections and personally moved to execute Lin Feng publicly to preserve Shrek’s reputation; she too was killed. 92 93 97

After losing the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament and suffering repeated losses among its talented students and elders, Shrek faced a weakened position against the Sun Moon Empire.
