Okita sat alone in the canyon for a day and a night.
He could have called the Internet, asked for Boruto's advice, or asked the transformation warriors to collect Mifune's body. But he didn't. This was his trial, his loneliness, his... transformation.
When dawn came again, he made a decision.
Instead of revealing the truth - that would lead to the collapse of Land of Iron, the despair of traditional warriors, and the "Qi" practice system dying in shame. Instead of concealing the truth - that would make the "new Land of Iron" based on lies, make transformation into another forced fate, and make the choice meaningless.
Forge the truth. Transform the truth.
He picked up the body of Mifune and walked towards the ice field. There, the two armies were still waiting, tradition and change, past and future, fear and hope.
"Master Mifune is dead," he announced, his voice amplified by Light Pattern and spread throughout the battlefield, "But he did not die in battle, but died...Inheritance."
He laid the body flat on the ice and pulled out "Kurosawa". The white light of the blade was almost invisible in the daylight, but it made everyone who looked at it feel a certain... weight.
"He showed me Land of Iron's secret," Okita said, "Not all, but enough. Enough for me to understand that our differences are not betrayal and loyalty, not right and wrong, but... road and road."
He looked at the traditional warrior camp, at those familiar faces, his former commanders, and his former colleagues.
"'Qi' is ancient," he said, "So ancient that its origin is no longer important. What is important is that for thousands of years, countless people have found dignity, found strength, and found... themselves in the practice of 'Qi'. This is not the value of lies, this is the value of human beings. We create aesthetics from failure and refine freedom from limitations."
Then he turned to his followers, those Light Pattern flashing transformed warriors.
"Transformation is new," he said, "So new that its end point is not yet known. But we choose it, not because of denying the past, but because... of expanding possibilities. It is not a replacement for 'qi', but a dialogue with it. It is not a forced choice, but a choice."
He raised "Kurosawa" and pointed the tip of the knife towards the sky.
" Master Mifune's last order -" he paused, feeling the weight in his hand, and the last "qi" of the old sword master pulsing in the blade, "-is for us to choose. Everyone, traditional warrior or transformer, has the right to know: 'qi' and transformation, both originate from ancient experiments, and both carry the failures and victories of mankind. Know this, and then choose your path."
Silence. Then whispers, then discussion, then... the first action.
A young traditional warrior walked out of the camp, not attacking, but kneeling down. He kowtowed in front of Mifune's body, then stood up and walked towards Okita.
"I choose to know more," he said, "And then choose my path."
Then the second, the third. Not all, not most, but enough. Enough to start.
Okita felt "Kurosawa" change in his hand. The white light of the blade merged with his Light Pattern to form a new pattern - not Chakra, not "qi", not pure Light Pattern, but... a dialogue between the three?
He understood Mifune's final gift. This knife was not only a weapon, not just Inheritance, but... a medium. A medium that allowed different forms of power to understand each other, a medium that allowed different paths to respect each other.
"The new Land of Iron will be open to everyone," he announced. "Traditional warriors can come and learn the knowledge of transformation, and transformation warriors must learn the history of 'chi'. Not forced integration, but... mutual understanding. Choices based on complete information, even if the choice is to remain the same."
He lowered his head and looked at Mifune's body. The old sword master's face was peaceful in the ice and snow, as if he was just sleeping.
"This is transforming the truth," Okita whispered, only the wind could hear, "Not revealing, not concealing, but making the truth itself the object of choice. Let everyone decide how much to know and what to choose based on their own level of preparation."
The wind carries his words far away, to the network of Boruto, to Sharingan of Sarada, and to this world that is undergoing drastic changes.
In the distant Leaf, Boruto felt a change in a certain Node in the network - not an increase in data, but a jump in quality. Okita found something, something different... from his own "third road" Resonance.
"Transform the truth," Boruto whispered, smiling, "Better than me."
Sarada looked up from the data analysis, and Mangekyō Sharingan captured the change in his emotions. "What?"
"We're not looking for answers," Boruto said, "We're learning how to ask questions. And Okita... he asked a better question."
"What?"
"Not 'what is truth', but 'how to make truth a gift rather than a weapon'."
Outside the window, the sunset is setting, dyeing the sky into gold and red. A new day is coming, with new questions, new choices, new... transformations.
The moment the crystal was activated, Boruto felt that his consciousness was torn into countless pieces.
It's not pain, but... expansion. He exists in countless places at the same time, perceives countless existences at the same time, and experiences countless dreams at the same time. Globally, all Special Bloodline people--Sharingan, Byakugan, Shikotsumyaku, and even those descendants of Otsutsuki who are so thin that they are almost undetectable--all fell into the same dream at this moment.
Sarada screamed in the next room. Her Mangekyō Sharingan spun uncontrollably, and the "Time Dilation" ability spontaneously activated, forming a twisted time bubble around her. Boruto wanted to help her, but found that he could not move - his Light Pattern had been completely integrated with the crystal and became Node, the center of this global Resonance network.
The dream comes.
He was standing on a strange land. It was not any known landform on the earth, but some kind of more primitive landscape composed of Chakra itself. The mountains were solidified Chakra currents, the ocean was liquid energy, there was no sun in the sky, only countless rotating Runes arrays - that was Ōtsutsuki Clan's spaceship, which was landing.
"First contact," a voice said, not words, but direct knowledge, "Your ancestors called it 'divine contact,' but we call it... a job interview."
Boruto turned around and saw the speaker. It was not a human being, not Otsutsuki, but some kind of older existence - the will of the planet itself, appearing in a form that he could understand: a huge human form composed of countless Light Pattern, and the "whisper" Common Origin he felt in the underwater ruins was more complete and more... sober.
