If that was the case, something still didn't add up.
According to the rules of Dragon Ball, a new timeline was born only when someone traveled through time to change the "past."
Future Trunks hadn't even traveled to the timeline Gran came from yet, so by that logic, its Future Timeline shouldn't exist...
"No."
Gran shook his head again. The timelines in Dragon Ball had been crossed so many times that no one knew how many Parallel Timelines existed.
Perhaps his timeline didn't have a corresponding Future Timeline yet, but there was no way only one Future Timeline existed.
So I've crossed into a different Future Timeline?
Gran checked the map of timelines inside the Time Ring. This was indeed one of the Future Timelines.
"This place looks familiar."
Bulma looked around. She recognized some of the buildings, and her eyes widened. "This is West City on Earth!"
"Yes. We've arrived in West City on Earth, but in another timeline."
"But what happened here?"
Bulma clenched her fists as she stared at the ruined city. "Did Earth in this timeline suffer some terrible disaster?"
"Lord Gran, could we wait before going back? I want to see my home!" Bulma looked at Gran pleadingly.
This wasn't her timeline, but it was still Earth. Her parents, family, and friends existed here too.
She desperately wanted to know what had happened.
"Under the Time Patrol's rules, we aren't allowed to travel between timelines without an order from the Time Kai, much less interfere with another timeline's affairs."
Bulma's face fell as soon as Gran spoke.
Gran sighed. "Since you came to save me today, I'll make an exception and take you to see what happened here."
"Thank you, Lord Gran!"
A delighted smile bloomed across Bulma's face.
