Exorcists Gather, Investigating the Cursed House

Tokyo Airport.

Li Dan adjusted the brim of his cap and glanced at the modern city ahead. Aside from a book, he carried no luggage.

Zach followed behind with bags slung all over him. He had brought a truly excessive number of exorcism tools, even talismans he had somehow dug out from who knew where.

You could say a poor student had too much stationery, or you could say he valued his life and was willing to try anything.

"Li, wait for me."

With a backpack on his back and two bags in his hands, Zach had trouble walking. Anyone who did not know better would have thought he was a refugee moving house.

Li Dan ignored him and walked ahead alone. After leaving the airport, he hailed a car by the roadside and only stopped to wait for Zach then.

Zach hesitated. He had done his research, and Tokyo taxis were especially expensive. He was clearly not a wealthy man.

Or rather, most novice exorcists did not have much money.

Perhaps seeing Zach's concern, Li Dan opened the door and got into the front passenger seat.

"You don't need to pay."

Only then did Zach laboriously haul his things into the car and sit in the back seat. Feeling embarrassed by his empty pockets, he said,

"Don't worry, Li. I'll pay for the hotel later."

"Suit yourself."

Li Dan did not care. This little money meant nothing to him.

The car set off.
