Dumpling wore a diaper, but spoke like a world-weary old man.
When he saw Li Dan, he sidled over on his own, a ruthless glint in his eyes, and opened his mouth with all the swagger of a mob boss.
"Hey, Li, figured out who you want whacked yet? I don't like owing favors."
Well, gangster Dumpling was on duty today.
Li Dan gave him a helpless look and shook his head. "Not for now."
In the entire household, only Li Dan and Brian could understand Dumpling.
Hearing their conversation, Brian immediately got up from the carpet, shook out his fur, and walked over with an elegant stride, looking every inch a member of high society.
This dog could give Ah Q a run for his money. His mind was full of dirty thoughts all day long, and he was always looking to "get it on" with other dogs.
He even had designs on Pete's wife, Louise, yet insisted on acting like some devoted romantic.
"Hey, exorcist," Brian said, his tail swaying gently. "Pete told me you're inviting a bunch of people out to play some kind of horror game?"
Li Dan didn't ignore him. He nodded.
"That's right. Halloween's coming up, and we've got nothing to do at home anyway. But someone else invited me. I'm not organizing it."
Brian immediately put on a composed expression, adjusted his nonexistent glasses, and spoke with an air of profundity.
"How about letting me join? I'm a writer, and I happen to be working on an idea for a horror novel. I could use some inspiration."
Li Dan nearly laughed. He knew exactly what Brian was like. Whenever this dog went on a date with someone,
he always introduced himself as a "renowned writer."
He was forever bragging
