"Have you decided which club you're joining?"
Vidi didn't seem to care much about what Steven had done. When he saw Philip and Alice walking over together, he immediately asked about the more important matter.
"What about you?"
Wu Ming idly twirled his pen, his thoughts returning to that Music Box.
He had marked it, which allowed him to track it to some extent. He wondered whether he'd get anything out of it.
"I want to join the Business Club!"
Vidi hesitated for a moment, then clenched his fist, making his resolve clear.
"Then your parents are definitely going to beat you to death..."
Philip mercilessly revealed Vidi's secret: "On the first day of school, I clearly heard your dad say he wanted you to go into politics when you grew up..."
"Can we not talk about that?"
Vidi's expression immediately soured. "I'm only interested in doing business. I don't want to become one of those politicians who lie through their teeth just to get votes..."
"Your personality would suit you well in business or politics..."
Wu Ming couldn't help interjecting. After all, he had firsthand experience with Vidi's knack for wheeling and dealing.
"I'm going to join the Detective Shrine and become a Royal Inspector someday!"
Philip had clearly mapped out his future. "I have to start preparing this afternoon. We won't have as much time to hang out together from now on, so... sorry."
"My mother's a researcher. She works at the Type Two Boiler Improvement Center in the city, and she has some connections in that field. She hopes I'll join the Physics Shrine..."
Alice spoke timidly.
"That's a great choice!"
Wu Ming nodded in approval. There had never been a single best choice in the world, only the choice that suited you best. Being able to
