In this world, the Steam Age Difference Engine and Analytical Engine were the equivalent of computers.

Building one was so difficult that, apart from government agencies and a few major financial houses, it was practically impossible for an individual.

Take the simplest example: an ordinary, small Difference Engine. Its only function was to automatically calculate different functions, handling six different nine-digit numbers at once, to twenty decimal places. It was the most basic kind of Difference Engine.

Yet even a machine like that contained tens of thousands of parts and weighed over ten tons! Every component also had to be manufactured to a tolerance of within one-thousandth of an inch!

For ordinary people, the cost of the materials alone would be enough to bankrupt them.

When Wu Ming had first seen the blueprints, he had sighed deeply. A computer from the Steam Age really wasn't something ordinary people could afford to tinker with.

Of course, after obtaining the Main God Space this time, he had immediately returned to the library and copied all the blueprints and component drawings.

"Creation!"

Wu Ming called out softly. The sea of his Spirit Power trembled, and countless gleaming black metal components appeared out of thin air.

After all, they were merely illusory objects inside the Main God Space. There was no need for great quantities of materials; a little Spirit Power was enough to conjure them.

It was as if countless invisible hands were at work in midair, like master engineers assembling tens of thousands of components into a standard Difference Engine made of gears, metal rods, and conveyor belts.

"The computing power of a single Difference Engine is far too meager... To carry out my design, I'll need to link multiple Difference Engines and have them calculate together..."
