At the Foot of Mount Tai, at the Registration Area for Farm Teachings' Outer Disciples.
The line wound from the stone steps at the foot of the mountain all the way to the mountainside. Ninety percent of those waiting were Demon Clan members, some fully transformed and looking no different from the Human Race.
Some had only half-transformed, with their ears, tails, and claws still exposed.
Others could not even be bothered to transform, squatting in line in their original forms—huge fluffy lumps taking up the space of three or four people.
A Tiger Demon farther back stretched his neck to peer ahead. His neck was nearly at its breaking point, yet he still could not see the end of the line.
He sighed, pulled his neck back, and muttered to the wolf demon in front of him.
"Martial Brother, do you think we'll make it in?"
The wolf demon glanced back at him, his ears twitching.
"Who's your martial brother? I haven't even entered Farm Teachings yet."
"I'm calling you that in advance. Building some rapport."
The wolf demon rolled his eyes, turned back around, and continued waiting.
The Tiger Demon refused to give up and leaned closer again.
"Do you think Farm Teachings really accepts us?"
"I heard the Heart Questioning Array is incredibly strict. The odds are one in ten thousand."
The wolf demon did not turn around, but his ears pivoted backward. He was clearly listening.
"That's still better than being hunted down outside."
The wolf demon spoke in a low voice, as though afraid someone might overhear.
"The Demon Tribe I passed last time had over three hundred demons. The Human Race's Demon Hunting Squad slaughtered them until only a dozen or so remained."
"When I escaped, I still had three arrows stuck in me."
