Customs and Operations

Begging Tradition

The gang treats begging as a formal tradition rather than a mark of low status. Members—including Gang Leaders and branch leaders—travel without money and ask others for food and water, even when they possess considerable wealth 207.

• It is said that the tradition is connected to the gang’s martial arts, though its precise purpose is not explained 207.
• A person who provides food is generally left alone; refusing a Beggar's Gang member may invite harassment or retaliation 207 208.
• Begging also provides cover for intelligence work, allowing members to monitor generous passersby and identify potential extortion or robbery targets 270.

Dragon Subduing Martial Arts

The Beggar's Gang possesses the Dragon Subduing True Martial lineage. Its Internal Skills and True Skills are obtained through worship of a statue, while Dragon Bones are a further source of cultivation methods 430 431.

• Startled Dragon Palm — Used by Long Xingzhou to overwhelm Blood Refining Realm opponents and destroy the purple burial shrouds sustaining soul-capturing entities 205.

Trapped Dog Formation

The Trapped Dog Formation is a group formation used to surround and contain stronger opponents.

• Shi Qiang planned to use it alongside the Thousand-Eyed Monster against Zhao Han in Xuanwu County 138.
• A later version employed twelve Organ Refining Realm beggars, additional Bone Refining Realm members, and two Blood Refining Realm cultivators; it was considered capable of trapping Blood Refining Realm opponents 208.
• Zhao Han broke the formation with his blade energy, killing its Blood Refining Realm defenders and scattering the remaining beggars 209.

Thousand-Eyed Monster

Shi Qiang cultivated the Thousand-Eyed Monster as a weapon against Zhao Han.

• It possessed 900 eyes and was assessed as comparable to a Blood Refining Realm Martial Artist 138.
• Its growth was accelerated by feeding it refugees, with children preferred 138.
• Shi Qiang intended to release it at the Li Mansion while the Trapped Dog Formation prevented Zhao Han from escaping 138.
• The monster was later reported dead after the destruction of the Xuanwu County Branch 145.

History

Xuanwu County Conflict

Shi Qiang, the leader of the Xuanwu County Branch, came into conflict with Zhao Han after accusing him and the Poisonous Snake Gang of challenging the Beggar's Gang’s authority 137. Shi mobilized his Twelve Beggars, prepared the Thousand-Eyed Monster, and deployed roughly a thousand beggars around the Li Mansion as a surveillance cordon 138.

Zhao Han responded by attacking the encirclement. Most of the beggars were killed by Gang Qi, poison, and the Sheep Child, leaving Shi Qiang enraged at the loss of nearly a thousand members 139. Zhao Han then entered the branch’s underground darkroom and found profound-iron cages, but Shi Qiang and two Bone Refining Realm beggars had already been eaten along with their possessions 144. By the following morning, the Xuanwu Branch was regarded as destroyed 145.

Intervention Against the Rebel Army

Long Xingzhou, an elder known as the Old Beggar, led over a dozen powerful gang members into a battle between the Liangzhou Army and the Rebel army 205. Concealing his Vessel Expansion Realm cultivation until the decisive moment, he killed multiple Rebel Martial Artists, destroyed the soul-capturing entities’ burial-shroud mediums, and forced Xu You to retreat 205.

Long publicly claimed that the gang was duty-bound to oppose rebels who harmed civilians. Yuan Zi'an privately doubted this righteousness, noting that widespread war creates refugees and therefore expands the Beggar's Gang’s potential membership and influence 206.

Liangzhou Branch Crisis

After Long Xingzhou’s death during the pursuit of the Beggar's Gang, the Liangzhou Branch became vulnerable. Its Gang Leader and four elders had left for Xuanwu County in search of treasure, while two retired elders avoided involvement and Deputy Gang Leader Wang Hai focused on his own cultivation 209 279 286.

Zhao Han exploited this absence. He killed Helm Masters Old Ox and Old Ma, poisoned numerous branch members, infiltrated the branch disguised as a beggar, and forced an elderly steward to reveal the locations of the gang’s monsters and leadership 278 279 281. He subsequently destroyed or consumed the branch’s cultivated monsters, seized Taisui flesh and Origin Stones, and looted its facilities 285.

Reorganization and Further Losses

Long Kuohai later returned as Liangzhou Branch Gang Leader with elders Zhao Ganyang, Wu Kunyi, Long Xingyun, and Long Xiangtian 324. He sought revenge against Zhao Han and allied with Fang Qingyuan during the ambush at Devil Weird Lake 417.

Following further losses, the main headquarters sent Lu Jing, an Enforcement Elder, and Xiao Yao, the new Liangzhou Branch Gang Leader, to restore order 440. Lu Jing fined members half a year’s earnings for ignoring Xiao Yao’s command, particularly targeting those still influenced by Long Kuohai’s faction 440.

The branch issued a wanted order for Zhao Han and used a lookalike prisoner to lure him into the central plaza 442 443. Lu Jing and Xiao Yao later disappeared under unclear circumstances; the main headquarters eventually left only an Aperture Opening Realm elder to maintain basic operations 499.

• Zhao Han — Longstanding enemy. He destroyed the Xuanwu County Branch, killed senior members, looted Liangzhou resources, and repeatedly targeted county branches for Taisui meat and Dragon Bones 144 285 637.
• Devouring Boy Gang — Rival gang led by Zhao Han. The Beggar's Gang attempted to intimidate its businesses through harassment, surveillance, and false-flag extortion 272 279.
• Liangzhou Army — Temporary battlefield ally against the Rebel army; Long Xingzhou’s intervention helped eliminate the rebels’ soul-capturing entities 205 206.
