Chapter 22: Senior
The Fiery Cloud Evil God was not someone to be trifled with. A cold sneer played on his lips as he dodged, his hands suddenly sweeping towards one of the men. A suction force emanated from his palms.
Before the spear-wielding man could react, he was pulled towards the Fiery Cloud Evil God and his neck was pinned.
"Noisy!"
The Fiery Cloud Evil God tightened his grip on the man's neck. The man's head lolled to the side, and he collapsed onto the ground.
"All of you, attack! All of you, attack!"
The second-in-command of the Carefree Pavilion roared madly.
Immediately, a group of security personnel, some armed with guns, others with weapons, surrounded him.
The Fiery Cloud Evil God moved like the wind, his figure elusive. How could the security guards pinpoint his location? Gunshots rang out for a long time, but they couldn't even touch his clothes, and many of their own men were lost.
Li Maosheng's face on the second-floor stairs was as dark as water, his hawk-like eyes seeming to spew fire.
"Call the Patrol Officers!"
The second-in-command beside him was stunned for a moment, then gritted his teeth and made a call.
Within minutes, the piercing sound of sirens echoed from outside the lobby.
Hearing the commotion, the "Fiery Cloud Evil God" let out a laugh. With a forceful inhale and exhale from his palms, he turned scattered table and chair fragments into sharp blades, flinging them at the crowd attacking him.
Everyone dodged upon seeing this.
He then let out a loud laugh and transformed into an afterimage, swiftly darting towards the main entrance.
The security personnel, snapping back to reality, hurriedly fired their guns, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Just as the gunshots stopped and the crowd prepared to pursue, a group of heavily armed Patrol Officers, equipped with firearms, stormed through the main entrance.
One by one, they lowered their guns and stood on the steps, holding everyone below at bay.
At this moment, Li Maosheng's eyes on the second-floor stairs grew even colder, his hands by his sides trembling slightly.
With the arrival of the armed Patrol Officers, in just a moment, a tall, stern-faced man exuding an imposing aura strode in.
"Hands up, everyone!"
With the man's arrival, the armed Patrol Officers quickly took action, surrounding the people in the hall.
"Inspector Li, it's just a small matter. Why did you have to come in person!"
Li Maosheng forced a smile and hurried down from the second floor to greet him.
"A small matter? Is causing a death considered a small matter?"
"My apologies, Inspector Li. My words were careless. I hope you won't take offense."
"Hmm, what happened?"
Inspector Li nodded silently, letting the matter pass.
"A madman came to the shop earlier and caused trouble..."
Li Maosheng briefly explained, then invited Inspector Li into the shop to discuss further.
"No need to come in. Zhao Long, Zhang Hu, you two handle this matter with Boss Li."
"Operating legally and compliantly is the right path, and naturally, it's also the focus of protection for our Patrol Office. Boss Li should understand, right!"
"I understand, I understand!"
"It's good that you understand!"
A faint smile of satisfaction appeared on Inspector Li's stern face. It was a barely perceptible smile, but he was indeed smiling.
With that, he turned and left the Carefree Pavilion with a few of his escorts.
The remaining armed Patrol Officers, led by two senior officers, dispersed the crowd.
Li Maosheng stood aside the entire time, his face as black as ink, remaining silent.
Zhao Rui and Yang Fan had never witnessed such a scene. When the Patrol Officers arrived and escorted them away from the Carefree Pavilion, they wished they had two more legs and didn't linger for a moment.
This was a battle involving combat and gunfire happening right before their eyes!
After following the crowd out of the Carefree Pavilion, Yang Fan wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said with a slight tremor in his voice, "What rotten luck, to run into something like this!"
"Hey, why aren't you saying anything!"
Seeing Zhao Rui unresponsive, Yang Fan couldn't help but glance over. He saw that Zhao Rui's gaze was deep, as if he were lost in thought.
He frowned and asked, "What are you thinking about?"
Zhao Rui finally snapped back to attention and said, "I was wondering just how high that old man's Martial Arts have reached?"
"Martial Arts? Yeah, I forgot about it until you mentioned it. That old man is definitely a Grandmaster, incredibly powerful. In my entire life, this is the first time I've seen a Grandmaster in action!"
"Mm."
"You don't want to become a Grandmaster, do you... Pfft, no, you will definitely become a Grandmaster. My future wealth and prosperity depend on you."
The two of them chatted as they got on their motorcycles and quickly sped away from the troublesome place.
Carefree Pavilion was located in a bustling area of the city. Who would have thought someone would dare to storm the place so brazenly?
The attitude of the Patrol Officers upon their arrival further deepened this feeling – they didn't act like they were there to handle a police matter at all.
It was more like they were there to claim credit, or perhaps to display their authority.
As for apprehending the "Fiery Cloud Evil God," it seemed like a perfunctory effort.
This world truly isn't that simple.
Zhao Rui sat on the back of Yang Fan's motorcycle, patting his plump waist, and couldn't help but think to himself.
"Screech!"
Just as he was lost in thought, Yang Fan's motorcycle suddenly braked hard.
Zhao Rui's reaction was incredibly sharp. He instantly used his hands to brace himself against Yang Fan's waist, stabilizing his body.
"Ouch...!"
That squeeze made Yang Fan grimace and groan in pain.
But his groan was cut short after just one syllable.
It was as if something had covered his mouth.
"What's wrong?"
Zhao Rui asked curiously.
"Him, him!"
Yang Fan stammered, pointing ahead.
Zhao Rui leaned forward to look and immediately met a face that was both familiar and strange.
"Fiery Cloud Evil God!"
Zhao Rui's hair stood on end, and cold sweat broke out.
In front of them, on a rickshaw, the Fiery Cloud Evil God was leisurely sitting with his legs crossed, picking his teeth with something that looked like a toothpick.
And Yang Fan's voice had definitely reached his ears.
After all, a Grandmaster's hearing was not something ordinary people could imagine.
The Fiery Cloud Evil God glanced at the two of them out of the corner of his eye and gave a strange smile.
The rickshaw moved quickly, disappearing from their sight in the blink of an eye.
"We're doomed, doomed! That murderous demon has his eyes on us! What do we do, what do we do?"
Yang Fan's legs began to tremble uncontrollably.
Although Zhao Rui wasn't trembling all over, his nerves were taut, and his brow was furrowed.
"Let's go!"
Zhao Rui shouted, urging Yang Fan to leave quickly. He figured such a powerful figure wouldn't bother with two insignificant youngsters like them.
After all, there were plenty of people present at the scene.
"Do the two of you seem to know me?"
At that moment, a familiar voice, full of magnetism, boomed behind them like thunder.
"No, no, we don't!"
Yang Fan didn't even dare to turn his head.
"Oh?"
The speaker clearly didn't believe them.
Zhao Rui, sitting in the back, was closer to the speaker. He could clearly feel the warm breath and smell the peculiar odor characteristic of someone a bit unkempt.
"Senior, we saw you at Carefree Pavilion before!"
Zhao Rui knew that hiding was useless at this point, so he boldly spoke his mind.
"Carefree Pavilion?"
"Tell me about it!"
Zhao Rui was taken aback but recounted the entire incident.
"Interesting!"
The speaker said with a hint of amusement in his voice.
Zhao Rui and Yang Fan didn't dare to reply, quietly waiting for the speaker to say something else. After two minutes, there was no sound.
Zhao Rui turned his head to look, but there was no one behind them.
A chill ran down his spine. He was a Level 4 Professional Martial Artist, yet he hadn't heard anything when the person came and went.
Was this the difference between an ordinary Martial Artist and a Grandmaster?
