"Officer Horn, this kid's vital signs are dropping continuously. If we don't treat him, I'm afraid he won't last much longer. Hurry up and prepare the recovery fluid and nutrient solution to at least stabilize his life... Sigh, this expense is going to be charged to the training corps' budget again."
"How did he get hurt this badly? Looks like a little one who just joined the training corps."
"Who's to say? It's his first time in field training and he ends up like this. What bad luck. Forget it, if he can be saved, we'll save him; if not, so be it. I'll report it to Lord Parapi."
"Heh, don't worry. You know the standards of our treatment center. Many newborns are raised right here with us."
"Alright, alright, who doesn't know that everything in your place is priced clearly?"
"By the way, don't use the high-end recovery fluid. The training corps' budget is tight lately."
"Understood."
This scene took place at the treatment center. Horn, a Yugarite, sent off the Saiyan team leader with a smile, then turned back to look at the unrecognizable Saiyan toddler. He looked about three years old, his body extremely thin, likely from malnutrition.
"Saiyans really have tenacious vitality. To still be alive after such heavy injuries."
"Hah, that's why they're called a warrior race. If I had a physique as powerful as a Saiyan's, I would have become a mighty warrior long ago instead of being a medical officer in this treatment center." Horn the Yugarite held an instrument and examined the injured child, his octopus-like head shaking continuously.
"Severe compression of internal organs, multiple internal hemorrhages, sixteen bone fractures, and the most serious is the trauma to the skull. There's little hope of survival."
"Pull up this little guy's file."
With a beep, the computer system connected to the energy detector by the child's ear and accessed the database. Soon, the information about the young Saiyan was projected into mid-air.
Name: Roland Parents: Talens (KIA), Alicia (KIA) Potential: Intermediate Power Level: 134
"An intermediate warrior, after all. If his parents hadn't died, he wouldn't have been sent to the training corps." Lifting the severely injured Saiyan toddler, the Yugarite, with the help of his assistant, placed him into a transparent medical tank and injected green recovery fluid inside.
The quality of this recovery fluid was very average, but it had the advantage of being cheap.
According to the training corps commander's instructions, they were not to use high-quality fluid due to insufficient funds. In reality, for Saiyans whose parents had died in battle, unless they possessed extraordinary talent, the training corps would not provide careful care. After basic training, they would be assigned missions and sent off Planet Vegeta.
To put it bluntly, the training corps was a place for centralized training for Saiyan orphans, teaching them basic survival skills and combat methods.
They would drop the children directly into extremely dangerous wilderness areas, forcing them to fight wild beasts in the jungle alone; the training method could be described as extremely cruel. Planet Vegeta was a high-level planet, and although Saiyans held absolute dominance, fierce beasts still existed in the wilderness.
The casualty rate of such training was self-evident.
Therefore, as long as a Saiyan's parents were alive, they would rather train their children themselves than send them to the training corps.
At night.
Roland was still soaking in the recovery fluid when suddenly, a series of bubbles emerged from the green solution. The monitoring system detected obvious abnormalities in the individual's indicators, and the warning alarm began to "beep" incessantly.
"What's going on?"
Horn the Yugarite and his assistant rushed over, looking at the data on the monitor--although the body had been repaired, the brainwave display had turned into a flat line.
"Dispose of him. This guy is beyond saving. Stop the recovery fluid input and extract the solution for secondary recycling."
"Who's going to dispose of his body?"
The treatment center often encountered Saiyans who died due to failed treatment. Their bodies were usually claimed by relatives or friends, but for some orphans who died, the treatment center handled them directly, usually by burning them on the spot or having specialized disposal robots find a place to bury them.
After writing the death certificate and signing it, the Yugarite called for a disposal robot.
The disposal robot packed up "Roland," transported him to a small forest over a hundred kilometers away, dug a hole with a grunt, tossed the body inside, and buried it again.
After finishing all this, the disposal robot ran in a few circles on the spot, its crawler-style wheels tamping down the soil, then reported the mission complete and drove back to the treatment center.
The sky was dim, the moon was bright, and hazy starlight dotted the sky.
Right where the body had been buried, a miraculous scene was unfolding.
Roland didn't know how long he had been unconscious. When he regained consciousness, a stinging pain from the depths of his soul tortured him incessantly.
His body felt heavy, so heavy that even using all his strength, he couldn't open his eyelids.
This was a tremendous torture. In a daze, Roland felt a huge light in front of him.
He struggled for a long time before finally opening his eyes.
The smell of soil filled his nostrils. Wait, am I buried in the ground? Roland woke up with a start. He bared his teeth, and the intense pain made his face turn pale as beads of sweat rolled down.
Roland struggled to crawl out of the soil. Because of his injuries, every movement cost him immense physical strength.
After crawling out of the ground, Roland gasped for air, breathing in the fresh air. His lungs felt as if they had been nourished, instantly filling his body with vitality.
Where am I?
Roland's head was still dizzy. The next second, a series of memories surged forth. With a loud scream, Roland accepted the memories of this body.
After receiving the memories, his youthful eyes flashed with an incredible light.
"This is actually Planet Vegeta, and I've turned into a Saiyan toddler—and I've already died once!"
Roland was full of astonishment. He hadn't expected that after falling asleep and waking up, he would arrive in the Dragon Ball world. According to this body's memories, his name was Roland, a Saiyan who had died in an accident just after entering the training corps.
The parents of this body had died in battle a year ago while executing a mission. Although they had received a pension later, those funds had all been used to pay for the high costs of the toddler's nutrient solution.
On Planet Vegeta, newborn Saiyans are submerged in nutrient fluid for three years following their birth; this period is primarily intended to strengthen the infant's constitution and unlock greater potential.
Because Roland's parents passed away early, the quality of the nutrient fluid he received in the later stages was poor, leaving him somewhat "congenitally deficient" compared to other Saiyans of his generation.
What a headache!
Roland yanked a handful of weeds from the ground.
Compared to his peers, he seemed inherently a notch weaker.
Even the pit for his "death" had been dug in such a perfunctory manner.
Calm down, calm down. Even if I'm not an elite warrior, I'm at least a mid-level warrior. Yeah, yeah, mid-level warriors aren't actually that bad!
Roland consoled himself. Compared to transmigrating as an Earthling, he should feel fortunate; starting as an Earthling would truly be "hell mode."
I've technically died once already, so according to the Saiyan trait of growing stronger after a near-death experience, my power should have increased by a fair margin, right? Thinking about it that way, it actually feels pretty good.
Wait, now is not the time to be thinking about that.
If this is Planet Vegeta, the first thing I need to figure out is how many years remain before the plot begins, lest I end up here right before Planet Vegeta is destroyed.
A sudden, intense sense of urgency rose in Roland's heart. Having died once, he had no desire to die a second time.
According to Akira Toriyama's manga setting, Son Goku was soaked in nutrient fluid for three years before being sent away.
