"Where'd this brat come from? If you want money, go find your family. Stop loitering in front of me—get lost before I decide to beat you up." A thug with dyed, unconventional hair took a drag of his cigarette, waving away the small child clutching a ceramic jar with visible impatience.
"Hahaha, why are you picking on a kid?" Another thug leaned against the wall, exhaling a cloud of smoke.
One of the thugs noticed Roland's delicate, handsome features as he approached and reached out to pinch his cheek. "This brat is actually quite pretty. Come here, let big brother take a look." Someone else chimed in with a jeer: "Buso, have you been without a woman so long that you're not even letting a kid go?"
"Don't say that, this kid really is quite pretty."
"Hahaha." The thugs laughed comfortably.
Roland watched coldly from the sidelines, his heart filled with a sneer.
As one of them reached out, a cold glint flashed in his eyes. Roland sidestepped the hand, clenched his fist, and BANG—a powerful strike landed squarely in the man's stomach. The thug let out a wail and collapsed to the ground, clutching his gut in agony.
Seeing this, the other thugs flicked away their cigarettes and rushed over to help, but they were all beaten to the ground by Roland in a matter of seconds. Because the incident took place in an alleyway, the thugs' cries for mercy didn't attract any outside attention.
"You guys seem to really enjoy playing around, don't you? How unfortunate, so do I."
A cold, cruel smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. Roland gathered a sliver of energy and stomped his foot. With a deafening BANG, the ground beneath him suddenly sank, and with a violent tremor, the earth cracked open in jagged fissures.
The thugs were dumbfounded, terrified by the sight before them. "Little brother, spare us! We won't ever do it again, please, spare us!" they pleaded, kowtowing repeatedly.
Roland looked down at them coldly, flashing a brilliant smile. "Hand over everything valuable you have on you."
"Huh?" The men were slow to react.
"Hurry up and hand over the money."
Roland repeated himself while clutching the ceramic jar; in this deserted alley, he had no fear of drawing attention.
The thugs looked at each other, but not daring to disobey, they hurriedly handed over all their cash and belongings—seven wallets and several boxes of Hoi-Poi Capsules in total.
Roland took the money and counted it, only to find a little over three thousand in cash. As for the bank cards, they were useless to him, which left him somewhat disappointed. However, the truly valuable items were the Hoi-Poi Capsules. He weighed them in his hand, tossed the wallets onto the ground, and then took off into the air under the thugs' stunned gazes.
"He flew away."
"He can actually fly... he must be a monster."
Only after Roland disappeared did the thugs regain their senses. Looking at the ground he had effortlessly destroyed, they stared with eyes full of terror, as if they had seen a demon.
"Boss, should we call the police?" one thug trembled. He was immediately slapped across the face, and the leader cursed, "You go call the police! Do you think they'll believe we were robbed by a four or five-year-old kid who then flew away?"
"Damn it, let's all go back. Today is just bad luck."
Near a remote ridge outside the town, a blurred figure suddenly flashed into existence. Roland appeared with his loot, opened the small boxes containing the Hoi-Poi Capsules, and inspected their contents one by one.
He pressed the button on a capsule and tossed it onto the open ground in the distance. With a POOF of white smoke, a jet-black motorcycle appeared out of thin air. It had a modern design and no wheels, exactly as described in the animation.
Hoi-Poi Capsules could store objects of massive volume.
He tested the remaining capsules. Aside from a few that were empty, they only contained daily appliances and vehicles; there were no valuable items like houses or RVs.
It made sense—how could a few small-time thugs have anything that valuable?
"This three thousand or so should be enough to buy a few blank capsules."
Shaking his head in dissatisfaction, Roland packed all the capsules away.
Blank capsules weren't expensive; as portable storage items for daily necessities, they were quite cheap. A standard box of seven capsules sold for just over a thousand. The purchasing power of Earth's currency was similar to the RMB from his previous life.
Returning to town, he used the stolen money to rent a hotel room and took a long, hot shower to wash away the sweat and grime. He then bought a few suitable sets of clothes, and the cash in his hands was already running low.
"Money really doesn't last long!"
He sighed to himself, then took a small cloth bag and filled it with over twenty Senzu Beans, packing the rest into a blank Hoi-Poi Capsule. Patting the capsule in his hand, Roland carefully kept them on his person.
Earth was different from the planet Roland had previously inhabited; you couldn't survive here without money. To ensure his quality of life and enjoy the delicious food Earth had to offer, he needed to secure a massive fortune.
Once he had money, everything else would be easy to handle.
"Right, I remember that when Goku was dealing with the Red Ribbon Army, he went into a pirate's underground treasury with General Blue. That place was filled with gold and treasures." Although the pirate treasury was on the seabed, it wouldn't stump Roland.
According to clues from the manga, the treasury was not far from Master Roshi's Kame House, and the entrance was quite obvious.
With this plan in mind, Roland checked out the next day and headed toward the ocean without a moment's delay. The island where Master Roshi lived was near the East Sea. Using his Scouter to scan toward the east, Roland quickly pinpointed the location of the Kame House and began searching the surrounding area.
Six days passed, and Roland was still searching across the vast ocean. Looking at the magnificent, deep blue expanse, his brows began to furrow.
"It should be right around here."
After flying around the entire sea area several times, Roland searched according to the clues he knew. "The location is correct, but where exactly is the entrance?"
Could it be that the pirates hadn't built the treasury yet? No, according to the scenes depicted in the manga, the treasury had been built at least several decades ago—otherwise, it couldn't have accumulated so much treasure. It had to exist.
Suddenly, Roland slapped his forehead. Why hadn't he thought to get a metal detector? Most of the treasure in the vault consisted of gold and silver jewelry; he could easily use a high-precision metal detector to find it. Thinking of this, Roland immediately flew to a nearby city and used the last of his money to buy a detector.
When he returned to the ocean, it didn't take long before he picked up a strong signal.
Following the information provided by the detector, Roland searched for a while and finally found the entrance to the underwater treasury.
