Gathering

Time slipped away soundlessly amid research.

Less than a day before the assembly time, Benjamin raised his head from the workbench.

Three staffs floated before him, slowly rotating. Dark-gold metallic luster flowed across their shafts, and within the diamond-shaped crystal cores embedded at their tips, faint points of light compressed to the utmost extreme could be seen—the sealed state of the Li-Fire Extinction Divine Light.

"More or less done."

Benjamin reached out and grasped one of them. It felt faintly warm.

The energy circuits within the staff were stable and surging, ready to release that destructive beam at a single thought.

The crafting process had gone more smoothly than he had expected.

As a wizard from the Alchemy Department, and a Logistics Department wizard who had personally established the Rune Artifact system, he had encountered no fundamental obstacles in packaging a mature spell model into the framework of a traditional Wizard Artifact.

He was quite satisfied with the final product.

Each staff could store and release one full-power Li-Fire Extinction Divine Light. Drawing on the Level 5 Large Elemental Pool within his Internal Grotto-Heaven, the recharge interval was only three minutes.

Though the number of uses in each round was limited, it was already enough as an "emergency trump card" or a "tactical surprise attack."

After all, he himself could cast this spell as well. The staffs were more for those moments when there was "no time to charge up."

"What a pity—there still wasn't enough time."

Benjamin put away the staffs with some regret.

If he could convert another defensive spell, such as the "Primordial Origin Protective Divine Aura" or "Darkwater Barrier" recorded in the Great Dao Library, then he would possess trump cards that transcended systems on both offense and defense.
