Background / History

Benjamin created the Black Giants in the Purgatory Sulfur Plane as an improved elemental lifeform combining the foundations of Lava Giants and Snow Monsters. Their core design incorporates thermal-energy absorption, fire-energy conversion, and a temporal talent inherited from Snow Monsters. A perfected Level 4 mother core, containing blue and red vortex-like structures, was cultivated from Level 3 Snow Monster and Level 4 Lava Giant cores before being used for incubation. 239 242

The first Black Giant was born from a blood-red magma Incubation Pool. It was pitch-black, radiated cold despite standing in molten magma, and briefly went out of control before Benjamin defeated it during a live combat test. Benjamin chose the short codename “Black Giant” rather than its lengthy official classification. 239

Early breeding was constrained by extreme energy consumption. The Incubation Pool required far more energy than one used for ordinary Lava Giants, particularly when producing high-level individuals. With increased elemental-energy infrastructure, Benjamin eventually produced a five-member initial brood led by a Level 3 Black Giant. 242 243

The race developed rapidly through warfare, devouring biological resources and adapting to hostile conditions. After decades of conflict, two original veterans reached Level 4 and gained combat power sufficient to tear apart ordinary Level 5 lifeforms. 267 Their population later became a stable servant race capable of reproducing through core crystal nuclei and forming tribes, rituals, and social customs. 330 338

The Incense Divinity Path accelerated the Black Giants’ social and biological development. It produced the first Black Giant Priests—highly intelligent Level 6 mutations—and enabled Benjamin to command the population through the Fate System. 364 365 587 After nearly a millennium of growth, the race exceeded ten billion individuals on the Purgatory Sulfur Plane. 463

Benjamin later used Moonlight Essence and parallel-world biological modification technology to create a stronger generation of Black Giants. He then applied the new traits to every existing Black Giant through the Incense Divinity Path, raising their intelligence, energy absorption, soul strength, and advancement potential. 614

Appearance

Ordinary Black Giants are massive humanoid elemental beings coated in a shifting, lightless layer of black liquid metal. They can appear to be covered in solid black metal, but their surfaces constantly flow in subtle currents. Their bodies emit cold even while immersed in magma. 239
