Benjamin and Viola hid behind a long table, wearing knowing smiles as their eyes never left that direction for even a second. Mentor Clark was still talking with the female wizard from the Crimson Court.
They were speaking quietly, their voices drowned out by the surrounding clamor.
But Benjamin's hearing was sharp enough to make out every word. Although they were not discussing anything particularly shocking, the scene alone was entertaining enough. "Do you think they might..." Viola lowered her voice, her eyes suggestive.
"Don't make wild guesses." Benjamin stopped her with a straight face, then could not help leaning closer himself. "But I think it's possible."
They exchanged a glance and simultaneously wore expressions that said, You know exactly what I mean.
Viola picked up a drink and pretended to taste it, but she held the cup so high that it covered half her face, leaving only a pair of darting eyes exposed. Benjamin held a plate of fruit, stuffing pieces into his mouth while frantically scanning the scene from the corner of his eye.
"Did you notice? Mentor changed his outfit specifically for this." Benjamin quietly sent the message through mental power. "That Wizard Robe, that hairstyle, that face... He usually cannot even be bothered to shave, yet today he actually cleaned himself up this well."
