Background / History
Clark first appears as the sparse-haired, monocled wizard staffing the Alchemy Studies desk at Noren Academy. He recognizes Benjamin's Level Six talent immediately and accepts him into his field. 6 After Benjamin's background investigation, Clark admits that he and other wizards had been disappointed to find Benjamin was merely a “clean” native genius rather than a source of dangerous foreign-god knowledge. 29
As Benjamin's mentor, Clark assigns him material-analysis work, monitors his research development, and arranges opportunities suited to his abilities. He also decides to make cross-plane trials a regular part of the Academy curriculum after observing Benjamin's performance in the Gray Rock Plane. 31 59 Before Benjamin leaves Noren Plane 13, Clark disguises an aptitude-potion deployment mission as an opportunity for Benjamin to visit his family one final time. 85
Clark supports Benjamin's research through costly but favorable exchanges. When Benjamin encounters a bottleneck in studying the Divine Power Faith Network, Clark provides centuries of Level 6 research notes for a price Benjamin can realistically pay with Mortal Dust Potions. 159 160 He later guides Benjamin through the construction of the All-Purpose Eye wizardry model. 161
During Noren Workshop's war against the Tower of Silence and Chaos Cult, Clark reveals combat and creation capabilities far beyond a conventional Level 6 Wizard. He leads fortress construction, deploys a massive Shadow Legion, and independently confronts hundreds of higher-level enemy wizards. 470 473 478
Clark's deeper path is eventually revealed as a humanoid Living Plane—or “Animated Plane”—route centered on comprehending and wielding laws. He uses the Spirit Awakening Array to connect with a newborn plane soul, replaces its consciousness, and becomes its core consciousness, allowing him to direct the plane's power against Level 8 opponents. 481 535 536
Appearance
Clark is usually a thin, reserved wizard in plain dark robes. His early appearance is marked by sparse hair, nimble hands suited to material work, and a monocle. 6 At the parallel-world gathering, he appears in a dramatically younger, carefully groomed form that Benjamin and Viola initially fail to recognize. 595
- Thin build with visibly sparse hair. 6 535
- Often wears an undecorated black Wizard Robe. 477 481
- Uses a monocle during his work at Noren Academy. 6
- Can present himself as a young man in his early twenties. 595
Personality
Clark is taciturn, detached, and exceptionally direct. He rarely initiates communication with Benjamin unless the matter is important, and his brief instructions generally leave little room for argument. 165 681 He is not outwardly expressive, but his behavior repeatedly shows concern for his students' safety, research, and long-term development. 85 160 804
He follows Wizard Civilization's principle of equivalent exchange, even when helping others. Clark prices his research notes and the knowledge Benjamin gains from Law Resonance, yet consistently sets terms that acknowledge Benjamin's circumstances or waives part of the cost. 160 730 His interest in unknown lifeforms, spirituality, and laws is intense enough that he volunteers to become the first teacher of the newborn Starfall Plane. 452
Abilities & Skills
Alchemy and Life Engineering
Clark is an elite Alchemy Studies wizard whose creations range from protective artifacts to mass-produced modified lifeforms.
- Level 6 alchemists such as Clark can mass-produce Level 4 extraordinary soldiers and develop elite units reaching Level 6. 84
- Created a life-linked Substitute Doll for Benjamin before a dangerous mission, using Benjamin's bodily material and spiritual power. 165
- His Shadow Legion demonstrates a standardized creation system capable of producing beings as high as Level 8. 473 474
- Uses Alchemy to rapidly construct large-scale defenses; he led the creation of a steel fortress completed in three minutes during wartime. 470
All-Laws Path
Clark studies and accumulates multiple laws rather than specializing in a single field. This approach requires immense time and resources, but grants extraordinary combat flexibility.
- Spent nearly 100,000 years at Level 6 earning resources, acquiring knowledge, and investing in the study of successive laws. 732
- His path trades slower advancement for unusually strong same-rank combat power. 746
- His knowledge breadth and law structures are so vast that Benjamin, while in Dao-Integration, perceives Clark's ordinary humanoid body as only an outer projection of a far larger existence. 729
- He warns Benjamin that studying all laws is not necessarily the only—or optimal—path for every wizard. 732
Law Manipulation and Counter-Wizardry
Clark can neutralize enemy wizardry through methods other wizards struggle to understand.
- Defeated seventeen Level 7 Wizards and more than one hundred Level 6 Wizards with a single attack. 478
- Erased the combined attacks of over fifty Level 7 Wizards with a gesture rather than merely defending against them. 478
- Destroyed a massive array cannon operated by three hundred Level 6 Wizards. 478
- Sustained saturation attacks can force him into high-load calculations; during the siege by thousands of attacks, he was eventually grievously injured before closing in on Mordiggian. 479 480
Shadow Legion
Clark can deploy an immense legion of shadow-based modified creatures.
- Peak Level 6 warriors — 80 million. 473
- Peak Level 6 assassins — 20 million. 473
- Initial Level 7 wyverns — 1 million. 473
- Level 8 Shadow Lords — 10,000. 473
Spirit and Plane Manipulation
Clark's research extends to souls, spirituality, and Living Planes.
- Stabilized Starfall's soul core after her body was consumed during the creation of a newborn Living Plane. 449
- Operated the Spirit Awakening Array to fuse plane spirituality with a shadow creature's spirituality and cultivate a plane soul. 535
- Established a full connection with the newborn plane soul, taking control of its power to freeze and redirect death energy and antimatter forces. 535 536
- Served as the intended first teacher of the Starfall Plane, treating its growth as both a teaching responsibility and a research opportunity. 452
Mentorship and Wizardry Construction
Clark teaches through practical models, research materials, and carefully chosen opportunities.
- Explains the distinction between imitating existing wizardry and independently constructing wizardry aligned with one's own knowledge and spiritual traits. 160
- Guided Benjamin in combining existing runes with a core rune to create the All-Purpose Eye. 161
- Shares high-level research material when it can help Benjamin overcome a genuine bottleneck. 159 160
- Warns Benjamin about cooperative Black Wizard hunting tactics before his academic journey. 804

Relationships
- Benjamin — Disciple. Clark recruits Benjamin into Alchemy Studies, guides his wizardry development, provides research support, and warns him of external threats. 6 160 804
- Viola — Disciple and Benjamin's senior sister. Clark treats her with the same blunt mentorship he gives Benjamin, though she openly complains that he favors Benjamin. 450 804

Trivia
- Clark's three missed calls to Benjamin after a 300-year seclusion immediately signal an important matter, since he almost never contacts Benjamin without cause. 681
- Benjamin and Viola once secretly speculated about Clark's unusually groomed appearance and conversation with a Crimson Court wizard; Clark caught them watching. 598
