The atmosphere in Fnatic's practice room was tense.

"Listen up, boys. Our next opponent is Heroic." Samuelsson looked stern. He clearly hadn't expected to face one of the strongest teams in the group so early. "They probably won't pick Dust II or Ancient. Most likely, the final map will be either Mirage or Nuke."

"Should we pick Nuke? We just crushed GL on it." The speaker was poizon, still riding the high of their 16–2 thrashing of GL.

ALEX shook his head and looked at the analyst's figures in his notebook. "We might've crushed GL on Nuke, but it's one of Heroic's strongest maps."

"You know how Danish teams are on Nuke."
###
"Whether it was North or Astralis back then, or Heroic now, Nuke has always been one of their strongest maps."

"The only time Heroic lost on Nuke recently was against another top-tier team, Faze Clan."
###
"Besides, Aether only joined the team recently. Against veterans like Heroic, we'd be at a clear disadvantage on a map that relies so heavily on teamwork and tactics."

"Let's play Mirage. Heroic are good on it too, but the map's relatively simple, so it'll help us avoid our weaknesses as much as possible."

Samuelsson listened to ALEX's conclusion and nodded.

Nuke was a huge map with plenty of details to master when taking control. Fnatic had been practicing together for less than half a month, so they clearly couldn't match Heroic's tactical precision.

Better to pick Mirage, which was comparatively straightforward.

But...

Although they'd considered plenty of factors, the match itself turned out very differently.

Just as the analysts had predicted, the match was played on Mirage.

Fnatic started on the Terrorist side and had prepared plenty of strategies.

But no matter how well-crafted the strategies were, they still depended on the players' aim.

Since the Terrorists could hardly run a double-AWP setup, Qin Feng had no choice but to hand the sniper role to poizon. He picked up a rifle instead and took on the entry-fragger role.

Facing Heroic's star players, Qin Feng realized just how inadequate his 90 aim rating was.

Even n1ko or dycha would have struggled to gain an advantage in duels against Heroic's crossfire.

On top of that, the M4A1-S, with its laser-like accuracy and 25-round magazine, was incredibly strong for holding angles. Fnatic barely managed to mount any effective attacks in the first half.

Even after winning the Pistol Round, Fnatic finished the half with only 5 rounds.

With the score at 5–10, Fnatic headed into the second half.

Qin Feng once again took the Dual Pistols given to him by mezii and went to defend White Car beneath B Second Floor.

But he'd barely reached B Site when the kill feed began filling up in the top-right corner of his screen.

His 14–9 KD and 95 average damage per round were respectable. But Fnatic's players defending A Site seemed completely out of sorts.

poizon, the team's primary AWPer, had a miserable score of just 5–14.

On Mirage, the Terrorists' main options were to control mid or execute onto A Site.

In the gun rounds that followed, Qin Feng kept trying to push up mid with his sniper rifle.

But Heroic quickly figured out Fnatic's playstyle.

So you like taking mid, huh?

We'll just execute onto A.

mezii and poizon, both out of form, couldn't stop Heroic's A execute.

Qin Feng was left with the difficult task of retaking A Site.

In the end, the score settled at 12–16.

Against the formidable Heroic, Fnatic dropped into the 1–1 group.
