In a rented apartment off campus, Mo Ying had just seen her classmate off. On her way back, she had stopped at the market to buy some vegetables and was now tying on an apron to prepare dinner.
Humming a little tune as she stirred the food in the pan, she was clearly in a very good mood.
Mo Ying was quite satisfied with her life these days. Yang Xiaowei had plenty of faults, but at least he treated her well. The classmate she had just seen off had teased her enviously, saying she'd landed herself a rich husband. Mo Ying had laughed and said Yang Xiaowei wasn't all that great, but secretly she felt rather proud.
She and Yang Xiaowei were, in all but name, no different from an ordinary married couple. A few days ago, Yang Xiaowei had even solemnly promised to take her home to meet his parents over National Day. An ugly daughter-in-law would have to meet her mother-in-law sooner or later—and besides, Mo Ying wasn't ugly—so she'd been in a state of inexplicable excitement ever since.
"Ding-ding..." The wind chime hanging on the door rang as Yang Xiaowei came back from outside. The first thing he did was head to the bathroom for a shower. Knowing he'd been playing basketball with his classmates again, Mo Ying called out with a smile, "Hurry up. Dinner's ready."
"I'll be right out!"
Looking at the spread on the table, Yang Xiaowei asked in surprise, "What's the occasion? Why are there so many dishes?"
Mo Ying smiled. "You've been playing in the dorm basketball tournament lately, haven't you? It takes a lot out of you, so I made a few extra dishes to help you replenish your energy."
