The Heavenly Venerates' eyes suddenly lit up, and delighted smiles spread across their faces. They could feel the pulse of energy—a law of heaven and earth entirely unlike any they had sensed before.
"I can feel the Law of Fire. It seems even purer than my own way of fire!"
The Red Crane Heavenly Venerate of Nine Mandarin Duck Mountain cried out excitedly, her eyes shining.
"The way of life! I can feel it—the way of life! It seems to be a higher level of the way of life, one that utterly crushes my own!"
An elderly, white-haired Heavenly Venerate suddenly grew excited as well. His eyebrows practically danced, and he didn't care at all about the strain. He poured the power within him into the Heavenly Pillar to gain a deeper understanding.
The other Heavenly Venerates didn't cry out, but light shone in each of their eyes. It was clear they had discovered something too.
"Damn it, why didn't we think of this sooner? If we'd known, we would've tried pouring our power in!"
Many of the Heavenly Venerates regretted it bitterly. They had spent so long studying the Heavenly Pillars, but no one had dared pour their power into them. Their boundless energy was so terrifying that no one had been willing to try first.
As a result, they had spent all this time sensing the power within and studying the paths of the runes, wasting far too much time.
At first, many of them had only been going through the motions. They hadn't intended to expend all their strength.
Now, they poured in energy with everything they had, even as their faces turned
