Mu Lei whipped his head around. Several crimson dots were rapidly closing in on the radar screen, each representing Void Insight-tier energy fluctuations.
"They're mutant beasts! Void Insight-tier mutant beasts are fleeing, with more than a dozen Heavenly Venerates pursuing them. Estimated collision in three breaths!"
The staff officer reported urgently, his voice trembling with urgency—or fear.
"Beyond Void Insight!"
Mu Lei clenched his fists, veins bulging. His eyes remained fixed on the screen, his gaze flickering.
"Governor, what do we do?" the adjutant asked, his voice shaking.
Mu Lei stared at the screen as the red dots drew closer. On the radar, he saw the energy reading of the one in front steadily dropping, almost below the safety threshold.
"Fang Mo's side is a trap, but these mutant beasts... perhaps there's still a chance!"
That was a being beyond Void Insight. Capturing it would be immensely valuable, and might yield information of a higher order. Besides, only a dozen or so Heavenly Venerates seemed to be pursuing it. There was nothing to fear!
"Prepare for battle! War Emperors, form ranks! One artillery barrage, then the War Emperors attack!" Mu Lei abruptly clenched his fist, his voice reaching the warships and every War Emperor through the communicator.
Thirty-five level-seven War Emperors formed ranks in front of the fleet, their weapons charging and their energy cores operating at full power.
The starships' main cannons began charging, their muzzles aimed at that stretch of chaotic space.
The Holy Venerable fled ahead. Amid the violent, chaotic spatial energy, it dared not enter the void for fear of being swept into the turbulence. It could only escape the chaotic battlefield first.
It was in an utterly miserable state. Its body had shrunk considerably, half of it was charred black, and black blood still dripped
