Encounter Battle
After quietly putting some distance between himself and them, Fang Mo quickened his pace. Even a minute's delay could let them catch up.
At this hour, the city was at its liveliest.
As long as he reached the main street, those thugs would not dare stop people so openly.
He passed through two alleyways and hurried toward the main road of City God Street. Ahead, he could see cars and pedestrians streaming along the brightly lit street.
Delighted, he quickened his steps. He was just about to reach the street.
Suddenly, his gaze sharpened. Two men stood at the mouth of the alley, short batons tucked at their waists as they smoked and chatted.
His steps paused slightly, then he lowered his cap and prepared to walk past them.
The two men merely glanced at Fang Mo without stopping him, filling him with relief. However, he did not speed up, continuing away with an unhurried stride.
He was within ten steps of them when the walkie-talkie on one of the burly men crackled to life.
"Seal off every exit!"
"Look for a dark, sturdy young man wearing a Martial Hall uniform!"
"Long hair, around twenty!"
Fang Mo heard every word clearly in the narrow alley. His heart tightened, and his pace quickened involuntarily.
"Stop him!"
The burly man who had answered the call suddenly raised a hand and pointed at Fang Mo. The other man reached for his waist to draw his short baton and shouted.
"Stop!"
Fang Mo abruptly raised his eyes and burst forward.
"Courting death!"
The burly man roared, drawing his baton and smashing it toward Fang Mo.
Tiger Pounce Stance!
Fang Mo roared inwardly. The strength of his entire body seemed to gather at one point before erupting in an instant, like a fierce tiger striking from the mountains—swift and unstoppable.
His figure tore through the night, carrying an irresistible momentum as he lunged straight at the burly man swinging the baton.
Fang Mo's left arm lashed out like a whip, knocking aside the whistling baton. His right palm followed at once, a power-packed blow slamming into the man's chest. The force was so fierce that the man flew like a kite with its string cut, crashing heavily into the wall with a dull thud.
"Damn it!"
The other burly man's face changed drastically. He flicked away his cigarette butt, stepped forward, and swept a flying kick at Fang Mo. The kick was fast and vicious, slicing through the air with a howl.
Fang Mo assumed the Standing Tiger Form, his body nimble and his hands like tiger claws as he steadily blocked the sweeping kick.
His legs seemed rooted in the earth. Even under such a powerful impact, he remained as solid as a rock, revealing the deep foundation of his stance training.
Taking advantage of the opening, Fang Mo changed his technique, turning his palm into a claw and seizing the man's calf. He then drove a straight kick into the shin of the man's supporting leg, his foot striking like an axe felling a tree.
With Fang Mo's current strength, he could kick through a tree as thick as an arm, let alone a man's leg.
But the burly man was a trained fighter. He spun and kicked at Fang Mo's head.
Fang Mo hastily let go and retreated. If he had not, that kick could have blown his head apart.
The burly man landed and shouted urgently, "This one's tough! Call for backup!"
Then he pushed off the ground and leaped at Fang Mo again, driving a fist straight at his face.
Fang Mo gritted his teeth, violently shook his body, and threw a punch to meet him. Their fists collided with a dull boom.
The tremendous force even knocked Fang Mo's cap flying. His fist felt ready to split apart, and the impact forced him back two steps. The burly man also retreated two steps. They were evenly matched.
"Good kid! Take another punch!"
The burly man bellowed and lunged at Fang Mo once more.
Toot! Toot!
At that moment, the burly man Fang Mo had injured blew a whistle.
"Then I'll fight!"
Fang Mo's eyes turned cold. If he did not deal with them, he would not be getting away tonight.
Faced with the burly man's renewed charge, he did not retreat. Instead, he chose to meet him head-on.
He was incomparably calm. With a shift of his feet, he slipped through the gap in the other man's attack. His body suddenly spun like a whirlwind, both palms slicing out sideways to deftly deflect the man's fists. Then, with the speed of thunder before one could cover one's ears, his hands rose in a diagonal thrust from below, like Guan Gong lifting a cauldron, striking directly beneath the man's jaw.
The strike was clean and decisive. Accompanied by a dull impact, the burly man was hurled away by the tremendous force, staggering back several steps before crashing into a streetlamp.
The dim streetlamp swayed, shadows writhing wildly.
Blood spurted from the man's mouth and nose. He clutched his mouth with both hands, making muffled whimpering sounds he could not force into words, his eyes filled with terror.
Top Heart Elbow
Fang Mo barked low and stepped forward, driving the point of his elbow into the man's chest. The sound of bones breaking came from within, and the man slammed heavily into the streetlamp again.
The streetlamp bent, its bulb burst, and darkness instantly swallowed the alley.
The whistling brute was so terrified that his whistle dropped straight to the ground. He scrambled to his feet and tried to run.
Fang Mo's gaze turned ruthless. He caught up in two strides and kicked the man to the ground. Stepping after him, he drove a punch into the back of his neck. His neck snapped outright. He did not even have time to scream before crashing heavily to the ground, twitching.
Only then did Fang Mo begin to gasp for breath, his back drenched in sweat.
It sounded slow, but it had all happened in mere seconds.
Both men were trained fighters, skilled beneath their hands. If he had not possessed combat experience from his previous life, he would have surely fallen here today. Even so, it had been extremely perilous. Fortunately, the Tiger Subduing Fist was truly ferocious when unleashed.
Without stopping to rest, he glanced to either side, picked up his hat, and turned to leave.
He could already hear hurried footsteps coming from the alley.
As soon as he ran out of the alley, he immediately regained his composure. He quickly walked a few steps, flagged down a taxi, and slipped inside.
The car had barely sped away when Huang Jun rushed into the alley with several men.
In an instant, Huang Jun's eyes turned red. The two corpses looked especially horrifying beneath the dim lights.
"Leave two men behind to inspect the scene. The rest of you, follow me!"
Huang Jun sprang forward and charged straight for the street, several burly men chasing after him. But when they reached the street, they were all dumbfounded. Cars and pedestrians flowed back and forth—how were they supposed to know which one it was?
"Search both directions! Call everyone over! We have to catch him today!"
Huang Jun cursed through gritted teeth. He had been humiliated beyond measure today. Two of his men had died, and the culprit had still escaped.
But it was all in vain. The group chased for several miles and questioned quite a few people, yet they could not find even a trace of Fang Mo. The two men Fang Mo had injured were also thoroughly dead.
"Bastard!"
"Bastard!"
In fury, Huang Jun kicked a bent streetlamp clean in two, making Granny Wang jolt in fright.
Suddenly, Huang Jun's gaze shifted to Granny Wang. He strode over, grabbed her by the hair, and said coldly, "Talk. Which martial hall is that brat from? Tell me, and I'll spare you today. Otherwise, tell your family to wait for your corpse!"
"I... I don't know. I really don't know!"
Granny Wang was so terrified that piss ran down her legs.
"Didn't you see him? Didn't you see the words on his clothes?"
"I... I can't read!"
Granny Wang pleaded.
"Then what use are you!"
Huang Jun abruptly raised his hand, intending to kill Granny Wang with a single palm strike. Blinded by rage, he no longer cared whether he killed someone.
"I know someone who definitely knows!"
Granny Wang suddenly cried out urgently. Huang Jun's palm was less than an inch from her forehead, nearly about to come down on her head.
"Speak! Who knows? If you dare lie to me, I'll make sure you die horribly!"
Huang Jun's voice was as cold and harsh as October ice.
Granny Wang's body trembled at his words. She closed her eyes in despair as tears streamed down her face. "The owner of the Liu Family Steamed Bun Shop definitely knows!"
